During ITM 2026, Cristian Locatelli, General Manager of Marzoli Textile, outlined the company’s strategy for helping textile manufacturers overcome today’s market challenges while preparing for the next generation of intelligent manufacturing.
Recognizing the difficult conditions facing the global textile industry, Locatelli stressed that manufacturers need practical solutions rather than simply investing in new equipment.
“We know this is a very tough moment for the textile industry and for our customers. Our mission is to stay close to them and provide real support.”
Repower: Extending the Life of Existing Machinery
At the heart of Marzoli’s approach is its Repower concept—a modernization program designed to maximize the value of existing spinning machinery.
Instead of replacing complete production lines, textile mills can retrofit their installed Marzoli equipment with advanced technologies that improve productivity, enhance yarn quality, increase production flexibility, and reduce operating costs.
According to Locatelli, this approach enables manufacturers to remain competitive while optimizing investment and extending the service life of their existing assets.
Preparing Mills for Smart Manufacturing
Beyond machinery upgrades, Marzoli sees digital transformation as the next major milestone for the spinning industry.

Locatelli believes future textile mills will rely on connected machines, intelligent automation, artificial intelligence, and data-driven production management.
Although the timing of the market recovery remains uncertain, he warned that technological transformation could happen rapidly.
“We don’t have a crystal ball, but we know tomorrow’s world will be very different from yesterday’s. The industry could move from zero to one hundred very quickly, and manufacturers need to be ready.”
Building an Open Digital Ecosystem
To support this transition, Marzoli is developing open digital ecosystems that connect existing machinery with intelligent electronic platforms through plug-and-play solutions.
These digital platforms are designed to integrate with AI-driven applications, enabling predictive maintenance, real-time process optimization, production monitoring, and data-based decision-making.
Rather than focusing solely on machinery sales, Marzoli aims to help textile manufacturers build connected, flexible, and future-ready spinning mills capable of adapting to Industry 5.0 requirements.
As sustainability, digitalization, and artificial intelligence continue reshaping textile manufacturing, Marzoli’s Repower strategy offers a practical pathway for mills seeking to modernize existing assets while preparing for the industry’s next technological evolution.
