Speaking with Kohan Textile Journal at ITM 2026 in Istanbul, Andreas Rass, CEO of Zimmer Austria, shared how the company is adapting to today’s challenging business environment by strengthening its supply chain, supporting customers with reliable service, and developing technologies that reduce energy consumption.
How is Zimmer Austria responding to today’s supply chain and energy challenges?
Andreas Rass: I would be lying if I said these challenges don’t keep me awake sometimes, but the reality is that today’s market conditions have become the new normal.
Our priority is to maintain a stable and reliable supply chain. Selecting the right suppliers is essential because we need to continue delivering machines even when there are shortages of raw materials or critical components.
At the same time, we focus on supporting our customers by ensuring they have the spare parts, technical expertise, and local service they need to keep production running without interruption.
Energy is another major challenge. The textile industry is highly energy-intensive, and fluctuations in energy prices—particularly given the current situation in the Middle East—have a direct impact on manufacturers.
That’s why we are continuously working to reduce the primary energy consumption of our dryers, washing systems, and other equipment. Our objective is to help customers lower their energy costs while maintaining high production efficiency.
Ultimately, our responsibility is to keep our customers operating successfully through reliable technology, dependable spare parts availability, and a resilient supply chain.
