Türkiye’s textile industry is increasingly shifting toward technical textiles, coating technologies and value-added production, creating new opportunities for machinery suppliers as manufacturers seek to remain competitive in a rapidly changing global market.
Speaking to Kohan Textile Journal during ITM 2026, Ali Erdem Erner and Alican Alkım Şar, Partners at ERA Mümessillik ve Makina, the official representative of Zimmer Austria in Türkiye, said the country continues to be one of Zimmer’s most important markets, with ongoing investments in both rotary printing and coating technologies.
Rotary Printing Remains Strong While Technical Textiles Gain Momentum
Erner explained that rotary screen printing has been a trusted technology in Türkiye for decades. Although digital textile printing has expanded significantly—particularly in Gaziantep—rotary printing continues to serve major textile manufacturing centers including Çorlu, Bursa and Denizli.
“Rotary printing has been used in the Turkish market for many years and remains a well-established production method,” Erner said. “As Zimmer, we continue to support Turkish manufacturers with the latest technologies, extensive know-how and strong technical expertise.”
According to Erner, one of the most significant trends in recent years has been the growing interest in coating technologies driven by the expansion of the technical textile sector.
As global demand shifts toward high-performance and value-added textile products, more Turkish manufacturers are exploring technical textile applications to diversify their production and improve competitiveness.
Zimmer has been working closely with companies looking to develop new coating applications across a wide range of industries.
“The coating business offers a much broader product portfolio than many people realize,” Erner noted. “Machinery alone is not enough. The right chemical formulations and suitable fabrics are equally important. When these components work together, we provide all the technical support necessary to achieve successful production.”

Türkiye’s Strategic Position Continues to Attract Investment
Erner emphasized that Türkiye remains a strategically important manufacturing hub due to its unique geographical position connecting Europe, the Middle East, Russia and Africa.
Although rising energy and labor costs have temporarily slowed parts of the market, global geopolitical uncertainty is strengthening confidence in Türkiye as a reliable production base and encouraging international orders to return.
Zimmer already has a substantial installed base of rotary printing machines across the country, and investment activity continues.
“We are expecting another rotary printing machine to be delivered to Denizli at the beginning of next year,” Erner revealed.
Interest in coating technology is also expanding across multiple industrial sectors as manufacturers increasingly recognize that producing value-added products is essential under today’s competitive market conditions.
Erner added that many Turkish companies visited Zimmer during Techtextil Frankfurt to gather information about technical textile solutions, and the same growing interest has continued throughout ITM 2026, where visitors have been seeking technical guidance and exploring new coating technologies.
