A Turkmen delegation led by N. Agahanov, Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, paid a working visit to Japan from August 30 to September 3, 2025, holding a series of high-level meetings aimed at boosting cooperation in trade and the textile sector, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
In Tokyo, the delegation met with H. Tsubai, Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation, Board Member and Executive Vice President of ITOCHU Corporation, as well as President of the Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Company. Talks were also held with N. Ishiguro, President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), focusing on expanding bilateral trade opportunities.
In Osaka, the Turkmen side hosted meetings at the country’s pavilion at the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition. Discussions were held with M. Ichinoki, Deputy Secretary-General of the EXPO 2025 Japan Association, along with commissioners of the Saudi Arabia and Qatar national pavilions, and representatives of Masui Co. Ltd.
Talks centered on the role of Japanese companies in Turkmenistan, strengthening export-import relations, and promoting Turkmen textile products in the Japanese market. Both sides underscored the potential for enhanced cooperation in the textile industry, as well as opportunities for Turkmenistan to showcase its growing production capabilities internationally.
