Reconomy Unveils Global Strategy to Guide Businesses Through Textile EPR Transition

Reconomy, a global leader in circular economy solutions, has released its new global strategy paper titled Textile EPR Strategy 2030, aimed at guiding businesses through the upcoming wave of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations in the textile industry.

As the textile sector faces mounting pressure to reduce its environmental impact, new EPR legislation across Europe and other regions is reshaping the industry’s responsibilities. These laws mandate that producers manage the full lifecycle of their products — from collection and reuse to recycling and disposal — to advance the shift towards circular business models.

Rather than viewing these changes as a compliance challenge, Reconomy positions them as a strategic opportunity for businesses to innovate, improve sustainability, and gain competitive advantage. The strategy paper offers a detailed five-year roadmap highlighting anticipated policy timelines, regulatory trends, and practical steps for businesses to adapt.
Key themes addressed in the strategy include:

  • Eco-modulation: Incentivizing sustainable product design.
  • Digital Product Passports (DPPs): Enhancing supply chain transparency.
  • Data-driven insights: Leveraging product-level data for better design and operations.

Reconomy’s approach includes both short-term and long-term support. In the pre-EPR phase, the company is helping clients prepare operationally, build partnerships with sorters and recyclers, and invest in data and technology infrastructure. Once EPR laws are fully established across the EU and globally, Reconomy will assist with multi-jurisdictional compliance, data optimization, and the acceleration of circular business models.

With over 20 years of expertise and a network of more than 40 Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs) worldwide across packaging, electronics, batteries, and textiles, Reconomy is uniquely positioned to support the textile industry’s sustainable transformation.

This strategy paper follows the recent launch of Reconomy’s Textile EPR Impact Assessment service, designed to help companies prepare for and navigate the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
