From sustainable materials and advanced textile technologies to international sourcing and trend forecasting, the 2026 edition of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles offered a clear view of the forces shaping the next generation of home interiors.
Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition returned to the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai from 18–20 August 2026, bringing together manufacturers, buyers, designers and sourcing professionals from across the global home textile industry.
Kohan Textile Journal attended the exhibition to explore its latest products, technologies and market trends. Staged across four halls and covering more than 100,000 square metres of gross exhibition space, the fair presented an extensive sourcing environment spanning decorative fabrics, upholstery, curtains, bedding, carpets, rugs and other interior textile products.
The previous edition attracted nearly 900 exhibitors and more than 35,000 visitors, underlining the exhibition’s position as one of Asia’s leading international platforms for the home textile sector.
Home Textile Trends Are Being Decided Now
Home furnishing trends may appear to develop gradually, but many of the materials, colours and textures that will reach stores next season are selected much earlier during concentrated international sourcing events.
Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles provides one of these critical meeting points. Over three days, buyers examine new collections, compare supplier capabilities and discuss commercial orders directly with manufacturers.
These decisions influence which upholstery fabrics enter mass production, which curtain finishes gain international exposure and which sustainable materials become commercially available to consumers.
Rather than simply predicting future trends, the exhibition plays an active role in transforming design ideas into market-ready products.
Sustainability, Texture and Technology Lead the Show
The 2026 exhibition placed strong emphasis on the interaction between design, responsible production, advanced materials and textile technology.
Across the halls, exhibitors presented solutions combining visual appeal with performance characteristics demanded by residential, hospitality and contract markets. Sustainable fibres, recycled materials, tactile surfaces, high-performance finishes and new production technologies were among the prominent themes observed at the fair.
The focus reflected a wider transformation in the home textile industry, where buyers increasingly expect suppliers to deliver not only attractive products but also durability, traceability, environmental responsibility and reliable industrial capacity.
International Buyers Connect Directly with Manufacturers
One of the exhibition’s most important features was its focus on connecting qualified buyers with relevant manufacturers.
Buyer delegations, guided sourcing tours and business-matching activities helped international visitors identify suitable suppliers and discuss their purchasing requirements more efficiently. Buyers from 72 countries and regions had pre-registered for the event, representing retail, e-commerce, interior furnishing and global sourcing channels.
The participation of major international companies and buying organisations demonstrated the fair’s influence on product development and sourcing decisions across the global home furnishing market.
These buyers are not merely observing trends. Their purchasing decisions help determine which materials, textures and textile technologies will be produced at scale and introduced into international retail channels.
Türkiye Zone Showcases Turkish Home Textile Expertise
The dedicated Türkiye Zone provided Turkish manufacturers with an important platform to present their textile expertise to Asian and international buyers.
Participating companies included BYT Dokuma Makina Tekstil, Dersiyon Tekstil, Işık Kadife ve Tekstil and Weavers Tekstil. Their collections covered upholstery, sofa fabrics, curtains, velvet, jacquard textiles and performance materials for residential, commercial and contract applications.
The Turkish presence highlighted the country’s established strengths in textile design, flexible manufacturing, finishing technologies and value-added home textile production.
Alongside international exhibitors, major Chinese textile manufacturing centres—including Haining, Hangzhou Linping, Huzhou, Shaoxing, Tongxiang and Wujiang—presented new developments in curtains, upholstery, sofa fabrics and printed textiles.
This combination offered visitors direct access to both international suppliers and some of China’s most competitive textile manufacturing clusters.
Fringe Programme Connects Creativity with Business
The exhibition’s fringe programme extended the experience beyond product sourcing through trend presentations, expert discussions, guided tours and industry forums.
Its activities focused on creativity, sustainability, technology and collaboration, helping participants understand how lifestyle changes and environmental expectations are influencing home textile development.
By connecting designers and trend forecasters with manufacturers and commercial buyers, the programme helped translate creative concepts into practical sourcing and production opportunities.
A Window into What Comes Next
For Kohan Textile Journal, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2026 was more than a showcase of new collections. It provided a direct view of how the global home textile industry is responding to changing consumer expectations, sustainability requirements and technological development.
The exhibition demonstrated that tomorrow’s interior trends are not created in isolation. They emerge through conversations between designers, manufacturers and buyers—and are converted into commercial reality through sourcing decisions made at international trade platforms such as Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles.
As materials, performance and responsible production become increasingly interconnected, the Shanghai fair continues to serve as an important meeting point for understanding what comes next in the global home textile market.
