Trützschler Nonwovens Introduces Stainless Steel MPD Dryer Option

Trützschler Nonwovens has expanded its MPD dryer portfolio with a new stainless steel (VA) option, offering nonwoven manufacturers greater reliability and corrosion resistance for moisture-intensive production processes, particularly in hydroentanglement applications.

The upgrade is designed to improve equipment durability, reduce maintenance requirements, and support cleaner production environments for hygiene and wipe products.

Addressing Corrosion in Hydroentanglement Production

In hydroentanglement processes, especially when manufacturing pulp-based nonwovens, fiber deposits combined with prolonged exposure to high humidity inside the drying chamber can create conditions that lead to localized corrosion.

Over time, this can increase maintenance demands, reduce equipment availability, and raise the risk of product contamination.

To overcome these challenges, Trützschler now offers the MPD dryer with stainless steel components for critical process areas, including perforated drums and internal chamber surfaces.

Improved Reliability and Easier Maintenance

According to the company, the stainless steel configuration delivers several operational benefits, including enhanced corrosion resistance in demanding moisture-rich environments, cleaner processing conditions, and easier removal of fiber deposits during routine cleaning.

The upgrade is also expected to reduce maintenance interventions, extend the service life of key machine components, and improve overall equipment availability.

Compact Design Maximizes Productivity

Beyond the new stainless steel option, the MPD dryer continues to offer a compact vertical drum design that delivers high drying performance while minimizing production space requirements.

Combined with its flexible heating concept, the dryer provides an efficient solution for both new installations and the modernization of existing nonwoven production lines.

Trützschler says the enhanced MPD dryer supports manufacturers seeking higher productivity, improved process reliability, and future-ready solutions for advanced nonwoven manufacturing.
