With an agenda that integrated business, knowledge, and futurereadiness, the event positioned Medellín as an international venue for specialized trade shows and Colombiatex as a key platform for trend forecasting and sector growth in 2026.
Driven by a resilient, competitive, and intelligent fashion industry, Colombiatex de las Américas closed its 38th edition with a positive balance, reaffirming its role as the primary barometer for the Latin American Fashion System in 2026. The trade show brought together 30,000 attendees—including 3,000 international visitors—17,000 national and international buyers, and 615 exhibiting brands (410 national and 205 international). Over the course of three days, these participants demonstrated the value chain’s capacity to adapt to a demanding global landscape and transform challenges into opportunities for growth.
This edition reaffirmed Colombia as a global sourcing epicenter, thanks to a differentiated value proposition that integrated specialized supply, applied innovation, sustainability, and strategic knowledge. Entrepreneurs and buyers from over 20 countries found in Medellín a critical platform for establishing commercial connections, anticipating trends, and strengthening competitiveness in a scenario defined by consumer rationality and cost pressures.
“Colombiatex is the heart of the industry. It is where the first link of the chain converges with a profound dialogue about the future of creative industries and regional fashion sourcing. It is a one-of-a-kind platform where the supplies, textiles, machinery, and solutions that drive the evolution of the Fashion System in Latin America are born. Its impact goes beyond business; it integrates talent, knowledge, and vision, boosts specialized tourism, and positions Medellín and Colombia as a strategic meeting point for an industry that thinks big, innovates, and projects itself to the world,” states Sebastián Díez, Executive President of Inexmoda.
During the commercial showcase, held across 12,000 square meters at Plaza Mayor Medellín, the strengthening of global sourcing was evident. The event featured a coordinated offering from companies across Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Valle del Cauca, Santander, and Norte de Santander, alongside firms from countries such as India, Brazil, Italy, Turkey, United States, Peru, and Ecuador. This diverse participation showcased developments in textiles, supplies, machinery, sustainable solutions, and applied technology, confirming the region’s capacity to integrate into international value chains and compete in high-standard markets.
Participation from national and international buyers confirmed that apparel manufacturers remain active and strategically connected to the market. Notably, 45% of the buyers were private-label manufacturers, reinforcing the vitality of a production chain that continues to move forward, focusing on innovation, differentiation, and efficiency, even within a challenging economic landscape.
The impact of Colombiatex extended beyond the fairgrounds and reflected on the economic dynamics of the city and the region. According to Invamer, the event bolstered sector competitiveness and projected Medellín as a world-class venue for specialized fashion and business trade shows, with an economic impact of $11.6 million dollars through hospitality, transportation, gastronomy, and related services.
“We celebrate another successful closing of Colombiatex de las Américas. The Medellín District supports this platform because we believe in its realworld impact: it strengthens business competitiveness, drives productive linkages, and positions Colombia as a relevant player on the global fashion sourcing map. Beyond the short, medium, and longterm business deals for participating entrepreneurs, Colombiatex left an economic impact in Medellín of $11.6 million dollars, demonstrating its contribution to the city’s economic, social, and cultural development,” notes the Secretary of Economic Development of Medellín, María Fernanda Galeano Rojo.
One of the spaces driving brand competitiveness was the Full Package Showroom, which gathered nearly 80 companies specialized in endtoend services. This scenario allowed attendees to identify solutions spanning from design to final production, fostering more efficient and agile models aligned with international market demands. In this space, the Medellín Chamber of Commerce for Antioquia and the Fashion Cluster supported 21 companies through a comprehensive process to connect and transform the fashion ecosystem’s capabilities in the region.
“As of this moment, as the fair closes, four commercial agreements totaling $134,500,000 have been finalized, and over 700 business contacts have been generated, reflecting active networking dynamics and business opportunities. We highlight the interest in reactivating commercial relations with Venezuela, as well as the generation of leads from Ecuador,” comments Sara Vives, Manager of the Fashion Cluster.
Colombiatex Drives Fashion Insight
Beyond business transactions, Colombiatex de las Américas consolidated its inspiration and knowledge scenarios as strategic hubs for understanding the evolution of the industry. The Knowledge Set featured over 50 speakers, leaders, and entrepreneurs who addressed topics crucial for competitiveness, global trends, and the strategies required to respond to the new fashion dynamics in Latin America. This space reported over 6,500 inperson attendees, confirming its relevance as a strategic thought platform for the Fashion System.
Similarly, the Sustainability Route, the Entrepreneur Route, the Materials Library, trend experiences, and specialized zones highlighted the power of an industry moving with agility, connecting creativity, materials science, innovation, and business foresight.
This positive balance comes as the Colombian fashion industry closed 2025 with moderate and resilient growth; consumption reached $36.7 trillion, a 10.3% increase compared to 2024, with a real volume growth of 6.5%. Segments such as children’s fashion and the strengthening of ecommerce highlighted new development opportunities, while the international front demanded higher levels of efficiency, innovation, and speed in response to a highly competitive international landscape.
Looking ahead to 2026—a year projected for moderate growth with an estimated real increase in fashion consumption between 2% and 4%—Colombiatex reaffirmed its role as an enabler for the Fashion System. In a context of heightened consumer rationality and cost pressure, the trade show positioned itself as a key space for anticipating trends, optimizing production models, and strengthening value propositions for longterm sustainable growth.
Following the successful closing of Colombiatex de las Américas, Inexmoda’s 2026 agenda moves forward with Heimtextil Colombia, Colombiamoda–Colombia Fashion Week—, NEXTECH by Colombiatex, and the Colombia Fashion Summit. These platforms articulate business, knowledge, and international vision, ratifying the country’s role as a benchmark for fashion in Latin America and the world.
