Unifi Launches AMY Peppermint Yarn and Expands Circular Product Portfolio

Unifi, the manufacturer of Repreve® recycled and synthetic yarns, has unveiled AMY Peppermint, a new naturally deodorising yarn engineered to provide long-lasting freshness through the use of sustainably sourced peppermint oil.

The innovation offers a botanical alternative to traditional antimicrobial treatments, delivering built-in odour control that lasts through 50 home launderings. Available globally in both virgin and Repreve recycled polyester, AMY Peppermint is designed for diverse applications, including apparel, footwear, home textiles and transportation. The yarn is fully traceable via FiberPrint® technology and certified by U-Trust®, GRS and SCS for recycled content.

“This launch reinforces our commitment to sustainable innovation,” said Eddie Ingle, CEO of Unifi. “AMY Peppermint gives brands a powerful tool to deliver freshness and performance through the power of nature.”

The new yarn joins Unifi’s AMY anti-odour platform, which already includes freshness solutions infused with silver and zinc oxide technologies, providing versatile options for brands to meet evolving consumer demands for comfort and sustainability.

Expanding Circular Solutions

In addition to AMY Peppermint, Unifi is strengthening its circular product portfolio with the launch of Repreve Takeback and ThermaLoop insulation, both made entirely from textile waste.

  • Repreve Takeback now includes white-dyeable high-performance filament, staple fibre, and solution-dyed colours, expanding options for circular polyester applications.
  • ThermaLoop insulation, previously made with 50% recycled content, is now fully recycled and available in down-like fibre, fibreball, and padding for enhanced performance and thermal efficiency.

These initiatives support Unifi’s goal to recycle the equivalent of 1.5 billion T-shirts’ worth of textile waste by 2030, reinforcing the company’s leadership in sustainable textile innovation.
