Textile and Apparel Companies Lose Ground in Türkiye’s ISO 500 Industrial Ranking

The presence of textile and apparel companies in Türkiye’s largest industrial enterprises continues to decline, according to the latest Türkiye’s Largest 500 Industrial Enterprises (ISO 500) list published by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO). The 2025 ranking includes 29 textile and apparel companies, down from 32 companies in 2024, reflecting the sector’s ongoing challenges amid rising production costs and changing global market conditions.

The latest figures also reveal a longer-term trend. In 2021, textile and apparel companies represented 11.8% of all firms included in the ISO 500 ranking. By 2025, their share had fallen to 5.8%, effectively cutting the sector’s representation in half over the past five years.

Five Textile Companies Exit the ISO 500 List

Five companies that appeared in the 2024 ranking were no longer included in the 2025 edition:

  • Şık Makas Giyim San. ve Tic. A.Ş.
  • Zorluteks Tekstil Tic. ve San. A.Ş.
  • Çalık Denim Tekstil San. ve Tic. A.Ş.
  • Atlasdenim Tekstil San. ve Tic. A.Ş.
  • İskur Tekstil Enerji Tic. ve San. A.Ş.

Their departure highlights the increasing pressure facing textile manufacturers as they compete with lower-cost production regions while dealing with inflation, higher energy prices, financing costs, and weaker global demand.

Two New Companies Join the Ranking

Despite the overall decline, two companies entered the ISO 500 list for the first time in 2025:

  • Kıvanç Tekstil San. ve Tic. A.Ş. – Ranked 389th
  • Aksa Karbon ve İleri Kompozit Malzemeler Sanayi A.Ş. – Ranked 492nd

Their inclusion demonstrates that investment in advanced materials and competitive textile production continues despite the sector’s broader challenges.

Top Textile and Apparel Companies in ISO 500 (2025)

The highest-ranked textile and apparel companies in the 2025 ISO 500 list are:

Rank Company
141 Merinos Halı San. ve Tic. A.Ş.
158 Gülsan Sentetik Dokuma San. ve Tic. A.Ş.
168 Kipaş Mensucat İşletmeleri A.Ş.
212 Karafiber Tekstil San. ve Tic. A.Ş.
213 Kordsa Teknik Tekstil A.Ş.

ISO 500 Remains Türkiye’s Key Industrial Benchmark

Published annually since 1968 by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, the ISO 500 survey remains Türkiye’s most influential industrial ranking. Originally launched with 100 companies, it has gradually expanded alongside the ISO Second 500 list, providing a comprehensive overview of the country’s largest manufacturing enterprises.

The ranking is primarily based on production-based net sales, excluding revenue generated from the resale of purchased goods without processing. The published report also evaluates companies based on additional indicators including net sales, exports, employment, and operational performance.

Industry Faces Structural Challenges

The shrinking representation of textile and apparel companies in Türkiye’s largest industrial ranking reflects the structural transformation currently taking place across the sector. While leading manufacturers continue investing in technical textiles, sustainability, automation, and higher-value production, many traditional producers are facing increasing competitive pressure from emerging manufacturing hubs in North Africa and Asia.

For Türkiye’s textile industry, maintaining its global competitiveness will increasingly depend on technological investment, productivity improvements, and a continued shift toward value-added manufacturing rather than volume-driven production.
