Türkiye continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading home textile producers and exporters, ranking fifth globally and first in Europe, according to Trade Minister Ömer Bolat.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 33rd edition of the HOMETEX International Home Textiles Exhibition in Istanbul on May 19, 2026, Bolat highlighted the country’s growing export performance, strong manufacturing capabilities, and expanding presence in international markets.
According to the minister, Türkiye currently accounts for 2.6 percent of global home textile exports, underlining its importance as a key supplier to international markets and a major production hub for home furnishing products.
Home Textile Exports Reach $767 Million in Four Months
The Turkish home textile sector maintained its strong export momentum during the first four months of 2026, generating $767 million in exports despite ongoing challenges in global trade and economic uncertainty. The performance contributes to Türkiye’s broader textile and apparel export strength, which remains one of the country’s most important industrial sectors.
Bolat noted that Turkish textile, apparel, carpet, and footwear products are currently exported to 211 countries and regions worldwide, demonstrating the industry’s diversified customer base and extensive global reach. Türkiye ranks as the seventh-largest exporter of textile and apparel products globally and holds the third position within Europe, reflecting the country’s competitiveness in both manufacturing and design-driven production.

Textile and Apparel Exports Exceed $31 Billion
The minister revealed that Türkiye’s textile and apparel industry generated $31 billion in exports in 2025, confirming its strategic role in the national economy.Breaking down the figures, textile exports reached $9.4 billion, while ready-to-wear and apparel exports accounted for $18.6 billion. The carpet and floor covering sector contributed $2.9 billion, and home textiles generated $3.2 billion in export revenues.Industry experts note that Türkiye’s vertically integrated supply chain, advanced manufacturing infrastructure, and strong design capabilities continue to support growth across multiple textile categories.
HOMETEX 2026 Highlights International Demand
The HOMETEX exhibition has evolved into one of the largest and most influential home textile events worldwide. The 2026 edition brings together nearly 600 exhibitors across approximately 200,000 square meters of exhibition space.This year’s exhibition is attracting significant international attention, with around 250 business representatives from 45 countries participating in business meetings and sourcing activities with Turkish manufacturers.
The event provides a valuable platform for exporters to establish new partnerships, expand into emerging markets, and strengthen relationships with existing international buyers.Industry stakeholders believe exhibitions such as HOMETEX play a crucial role in enhancing Türkiye’s global reputation, particularly in premium, design-oriented, and value-added home textile segments.
