Scaling textile recycling in Morocco could attract $1.9 billion in additional private investment and generate more than 30,000 jobs, according to findings highlighted by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Pilot Demonstrates Commercial Potential
In its June 9, 2026 announcement, IFC said the Morocco Textile Circularity programme transformed 427 tonnes of textile scraps into new processing materials, with another 2,400 tonnes earmarked for recycling.
Fabrics containing recycled materials met commercial quality requirements across all tested parameters. A life-cycle assessment indicated approximately 18% lower carbon emissions and more than 60% lower water consumption compared with conventional production.
