Morocco’s textile and apparel industry is seeking to expand its presence in Germany through a market study designed to identify buyers, sourcing requirements and commercial opportunities for exporters.
The Moroccan Association of Textile and Apparel Industries (AMITH) is working with the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) on the initiative. The 45-day research assignment, announced on September 10 and scheduled for the second half of 2026, will support targeted prospecting in Germany.
The project comes as Moroccan textile and clothing exports to Germany continue to grow, rising from $583 million in 2022 to $764 million in 2025. Despite this progress, Morocco accounted for approximately 1.4% of German textile and clothing imports in 2025.

Mapping Buyers and Sourcing Requirements
The study will identify German brands, buyers, distributors and contract customers, alongside their product, order-volume, quality and sustainability requirements.
Its deliverables will include a buyer contact directory and a calendar of relevant trade fairs and industry events, giving AMITH a practical basis for organising business meetings and export promotion activities.
The initiative builds on several exchanges between Moroccan suppliers and German industry representatives. AMITH executives met Hugo Boss representatives in Metzingen in June 2025, followed by a trade mission involving German textile procurement professionals in Düsseldorf in July.
In October 2025, a delegation from the German textile network Dialogue Textil-Bekleidung (DTB) visited Morocco with SIPPO support.
Exports Grow as German Imports Recover
According to the Trade Map figures cited in the project background, Germany imported approximately $53 billion worth of textiles and clothing in 2025, representing around 22% of the $245 billion imported by European Union member states.
German imports recovered to their 2022 value after falling to approximately $46 billion in both 2023 and 2024.
Moroccan shipments to Germany increased throughout that period, reaching $640 million in 2023 and $666 million in 2024 before climbing to $764 million in 2025—an increase of approximately 31% over three years.
However, Morocco’s share of the German market remained below its approximately 2.2% share of textile and clothing imports across EU member states.

Competition from Established Suppliers
China and Bangladesh remained Germany’s largest textile and clothing suppliers in 2025, with shipments valued at approximately $13 billion and $9.1 billion respectively.
Türkiye followed with $4.8 billion, ahead of Vietnam at $2.8 billion, Pakistan at $2.5 billion, India at $2.4 billion and Cambodia at $2.1 billion.
For AMITH, the research will help identify buyer segments where Moroccan manufacturers can build on recent export growth and develop longer-term commercial relationships.
