SM Tekstil, a Turkish textile manufacturer with over 30 years of expertise in cotton knitted fabrics, marked its debut participation at Colombiamoda 2025, signaling its ambition to expand across Latin America.
Speaking to Kohan Textile Journal, Emre Çetin, General Manager of SM Tekstil, emphasized the company’s strong foundation in global trade, exporting to more than 15 countries worldwide. “Our primary goal in attending Colombiamoda is to enter the Colombian market and, more broadly, the Americas with nearly one billion potential consumers,” he noted.
SM Tekstil is focusing on identifying the most in-demand fabrics in Colombia and surrounding markets. “From our observations so far, we see strong interest in basic cotton fabrics and stretch fabrics,” Çetin explained. “Since Colombia produces nearly 80% of its ready-to-wear apparel domestically, we believe there is real potential for us to integrate into this supply chain and support the local industry with high-quality knitted fabrics.”
This first participation is seen as the beginning of a long-term strategy for SM Tekstil in the region. The company plans to return to Colombiamoda with dedicated collections tailored to local market preferences, further strengthening ties with buyers and apparel manufacturers.
Çetin expressed his appreciation to the Colombiamoda organizers for creating a dynamic platform that connects international suppliers with Latin America’s growing fashion and textile sectors.
With its commitment to innovation, sustainable production, and high-quality standards, SM Tekstil is poised to become a reliable partner for the Colombian and regional apparel industry.
