Spanish Textile Machinery Sector Highlights Sustainability: Girbau Leads by Example

Spanish Solutions for Textiles, the platform representing Spain’s leading textile machinery and technology manufacturers, has commended Girbau for its newly released Sustainability Report—an impressive benchmark in environmental responsibility for the textile sector.

Girbau, a global leader in textile care solutions with operations in over 140 countries, showcases how sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into industrial innovation. With over 800 employees and seven manufacturing plants across Spain, France, China, and the USA, the company has long committed to sustainable growth and local customer engagement.

Key achievements in Girbau’s 2024 Sustainability Report include:

✅ 52% reduction in CO₂ emissions per machine since 2020

✅ 91% of materials used in machines are recyclable, promoting circularity

✅ 100% renewable electricity used in Spanish operations, with plans to expand globally

✅ Strong alignment with the UN Global Compact and the 2030 Agenda

✅ Ongoing investment in energy-efficient, water-saving, and low-impact laundry technologies

“Girbau’s progress is a clear indicator of the commitment within Spain’s textile machinery sector to build a cleaner, more responsible industry,” said Spanish Solutions for Textiles in a statement. “This is not just talk — it’s measurable action.”

The report affirms Girbau’s mission to create positive change for people and the planet while supporting the economic growth of its partners and clients.
