As part of the second phase of the GTEX MENATEX Egypt project, the Apparel Export Council of Egypt (AECE) hosted the program’s selection committee to evaluate and select participating companies and entrepreneurs in the country’s apparel and textile sector. The initiative is led by the International Trade Centre (ITC) with joint funding from the Swiss and Swedish governments, in close collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Industry.
AECE, serving as one of the key local partners, joined several national institutions to support this important project aimed at strengthening Egypt’s apparel and textile industry through innovation, sustainability, and global market integration.
The recent selection round focused on identifying textile and apparel manufacturers, fashion designers, and circular economy entrepreneurs who will now benefit from the project’s wide range of technical and strategic services. These services include performance enhancement, production efficiency improvement, market access support, and compliance with international environmental and social standards.
By aligning with evolving global demands for sustainable and responsible fashion, the program empowers selected participants to compete more effectively in international markets while reinforcing Egypt’s positioning as a reliable and progressive sourcing destination.
This initiative marks a vital step in advancing Egypt’s textile value chain, driving inclusive growth, innovation, and long-term competitiveness in one of the nation’s most critical non-oil export sectors.
