Stäubli Brings Smarter Weaving Preparation and Automation to ITM 2026

By Behnam Ghasemi

Textile manufacturers today are no longer looking only for faster machines. Their priorities have shifted toward improving efficiency, reducing downtime, simplifying maintenance, and maintaining consistent quality throughout production.

During my interview with Summer Hsia, Marketing at the Textile Division of Stäubli, at ITM 2026, it became clear that Stäubli’s latest innovations are designed around these very priorities. Rather than introducing standalone products, the company is presenting a portfolio of interconnected solutions that support weaving mills from warp preparation to fabric production.

Automation Begins with Weaving Preparation

One of the key highlights at Stäubli’s stand is the Sapphire Pro S47 drawing-in machine, developed to make one of the most critical stages of weaving preparation both faster and more reliable.
According to Summer Hsia, the machine offers drawing-in speeds of up to 190 ends per minute, while the Active Warp Control (AWC) 2.0 system ensures highly accurate yarn handling throughout the process.
In today’s competitive weaving industry, reducing preparation time without compromising yarn quality has become a significant advantage. By automating this operation, mills can improve productivity while minimizing manual intervention and the risk of handling errors.

Reducing Downtime Through Simpler Operation

Another innovation presented during ITM 2026 is Typeo, Stäubli’s latest knotting machine.
Instead of focusing solely on higher operating speed, the company has developed the system to simplify operation, reduce maintenance requirements, and improve knotting quality.

As Hsia explained, easier machine start-up and more intuitive operation help weaving mills maintain stable production while reducing the workload for operators. This reflects a broader trend across the textile industry, where ease of operation is becoming just as important as machine performance.

A Complete Portfolio for Modern Weaving Mills

Beyond weaving preparation, Stäubli showcased its complete range of weaving technologies, including:

  • Rotary dobbies
  • Cam motions
  • Jacquard machines
  • Technical weaving systems

Visitors also had the opportunity to discover 3D woven technical textiles, demonstrating how the company’s expertise extends beyond conventional fabric production into advanced textile applications.
This comprehensive product portfolio illustrates Stäubli’s strategy of supporting weaving manufacturers across multiple market segments rather than focusing on a single technology.

Türkiye Continues to Be a Strategic Market

During our discussion, Summer Hsia emphasized the importance of Türkiye for Stäubli’s textile business.
She described the country as one of the world’s leading textile manufacturing centers, where mills require high productivity, reliable machinery, and sustainable production solutions to remain competitive.

These requirements closely match Stäubli’s long-term engineering philosophy.
With more than 130 years of experience in textile machinery, the company continues to develop technologies that help manufacturers increase operational efficiency while maintaining the precision and reliability for which the brand has long been recognized.

Reliability Is Becoming the Industry’s Competitive Advantage

One message stood out throughout my conversation with Summer Hsia.
While many equipment suppliers continue to emphasize machine speed, Stäubli is placing equal importance on process reliability, intelligent automation, and ease of operation.

As textile manufacturers face growing pressure to improve productivity with fewer resources, solutions that simplify workflows and reduce downtime will become increasingly valuable.
Stäubli’s presentation at ITM 2026 reflects this direction—providing not just faster machines, but smarter weaving technologies designed for long-term operational performance.
