Marzoli Accelerates Innovation in Traceability and Recycled Fibers

Marzoli Textile Engineering, a global leader in spinning solutions with more than 170 years of experience, showcased a series of groundbreaking innovations at ITMA Asia + CITME Singapore 2025. General Manager Cristian Locatelli highlighted the company’s comprehensive approach to sustainability, digitalization, and fiber innovation—positioning Marzoli at the forefront of the industry’s transformation.

Energy-Efficient Spinning Powered by Advanced Electronics

Locatelli emphasized that Marzoli’s long-term leadership in spinning technology is deeply rooted in its electronic and software development efforts.

“For over 30 years, we have been developing energy-saving solutions across our entire spinning range,” he explained. “Our direct-drive systems and electronic platforms optimize power consumption and significantly enhance machine efficiency.”

Marzoli’s machines—from the blowroom to the ring frame—are designed to combine high flexibility, productivity, and reduced energy usage. Equally important, the company focuses on “sustainability in maintenance”: simplified service, minimized spare-parts inventory, and long-term durability.

“This is essential for closing the loop of machinery sustainability,” Locatelli added. “Sustainable production starts with sustainable equipment.”

Refiber: A New Solution for High-Quality Recycled Spinning

A major highlight of Marzoli’s presentation was Refiber, the company’s advanced recycling technology. During the exhibition, Marzoli demonstrated successful results showing that customers can spin high-quality recycled fibers directly on ring frames—a breakthrough traditionally associated only with open-end spinning.

Refiber allows manufacturers to increase recycled content in cotton, wool, cashmere, silk, and potentially reduce dye usage.

“This technology enables the production of more sustainable yarns without compromising quality,” Locatelli said. “It’s a step forward for circularity in premium fibers.”

Traceability: A Critical Piece of the Sustainability Puzzle

Marzoli also introduced the Marzoli Traceability Platform, designed to provide full transparency from fiber to yarn.

“There is no sustainability and no recycling without traceability,” Locatelli noted. “Brands and manufacturers must be able to prove the origin and content of their fibers. Our platform closes this fundamental gap.”

A New Frontier: Marzoli’s Nanofiber Technology

Presented for the first time at ITMA Asia was Marzoli’s pioneering nanofiber technology, developed over the past decade. This innovation enhances natural fibers by adding functional properties through nanofiber integration, opening new possibilities in performance textiles.

“In our view, the future of natural fibers will be shaped by nanofiber technology,” Locatelli stated. “It enables us to elevate cotton, wool, and other fibers into materials with advanced, customizable performance.”

A Complete, Future-Ready Sustainability Ecosystem

From energy-efficient machinery and advanced recycling solutions to traceability systems and fiber-level innovation, Marzoli’s presentation in Singapore demonstrated a fully integrated sustainability roadmap for the global spinning industry.

Locatelli concluded:

“We are not only innovating machines or processes—we are building the full ecosystem that textile manufacturers need to achieve true sustainability.Marzoli Recycled Fiber Innovation
