Kingpins New York to focus on Future of Denim Industry

Kingpins New York’s F/W 2020 show, to be held on June 12-13, 2019, at Pier 36 in New York, will be focusing on the future of the denim industry. The denim sourcing show will show a selection of vendors from denim and sportswear fabric mills from global countries like US, Japan, China, India, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Thailand, Spain, and Mexico.

On the heels of announcing exhibitor standards and requirements in the areas of corporate social responsibility and chemical management for Kingpins Amsterdam exhibitors, Kingpins’ New York-based organisers are focusing on promoting and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at their upcoming hometown show, according to a press release on the show.

The Conscious Fashion Campaign, which champions fashion brands who put impact at the forefront of their business to achieve the SDGs, will join Kingpins New York for the first time this season. The initiative, supported by the United Nations Office for Partnerships, harnesses the power of retail, media, and influence to drive the innovators in conscious fashion who are addressing the world’s most pressing issues towards our sustainable future.

A panel to be held on June 12, 2019 will act as a powerful crash-course on the SDGs and will include speakers from the International Labour Organisation, Conscious Fashion Campaign, Empower Women, and more. Lucie Brigham, the chief of office of the United Nations Office for Partnerships, will moderate. Attendance is open to all Kingpins New York attendees.

The Kingpins Trend F/W 2020 Garment Installation will include a curated selection of garments designed by Kingpins exhibitors, inspired by the Kingpins Trend forecast developed by Amy Leverton and Sam Trotman of Denim Dudes. Designers can visit the installation for design, fabric, and styling inspiration.

The Conscious Fashion Campaign x United Nations will discuss about the SDGs and talk about the opportunities for collaboration with the United Nations for the denim industry to achieve their goals. The Kingpins Bazaar will display some of the best vintage vendors. Kingpins guests and the general public may shop at the bazaar for their closets or their inspiration archive.

Textile designer Paul Vogel will bring his loom and collection of textile designs. Barcelona-based indigo artist Olga Guarch will present her indigo-inspired collection of paintings. Kingpins will present the winning and runner-up student collections from a design competition at London’s Ravensbourne University that was supported by Kingpins Show and our supply chain partners.
