Automation Is No Longer an Option—It Is a Must for Every New Spinning Mill

Exclusive Interview with Adolf Colom, Sales Director of Electro-Jet, at ITM 2026 Istanbul
At ITM 2026, held in Istanbul, Kohan Textile Journal had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Adolf Colom, Sales Director of Electro-Jet, one of the world’s leading companies specializing in textile mill automation. During the interview, Mr. Colom introduced the company’s latest technological innovations, including its new autonomous mobile robot (AMR) logistics system and advanced yarn quality control technology. He also shared his views on the growing demand for automation in TĂĽrkiye and global textile markets.

Q: What are the major innovations Electro-Jet is presenting at ITM 2026?

Adolf Colom:

We are very proud because, for the first time in the world, we are presenting our new Logicans system at ITM 2026. This is a completely new logistics solution based on Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) technology.

The robots automatically transport cans from one production stage to another without human intervention. We are showcasing two versions: one designed for transporting large cans using carts, and another specifically developed for open-end spinning applications.
This is an important milestone for Electro-Jet because it represents the future of intelligent material handling inside spinning mills.

Q: Besides the AMR logistics system, what other new technologies are you introducing?

Adolf Colom:

For the first time in the Turkish market, we are also presenting our advanced yarn quality control machine.

This system automatically inspects every yarn package and detects contamination, foreign fibers, and yarn mix-ups by analyzing the color of the tube. It provides manufacturers with an additional level of quality assurance before products continue through the production process.

Although this is the first public presentation of the machine at ITM in TĂĽrkiye, the technology itself is already well established. We have installed many of these systems throughout the country over the past five years with excellent results.

Q: Electro-Jet has been active in TĂĽrkiye for many years. How important is the Turkish market for your company?

Adolf Colom:

TĂĽrkiye has always been one of the most important markets for Electro-Jet.
Our roving frame automation systems have been extremely successful here, with more than 250 machines currently operating in Turkish spinning mills.

We have built a strong customer base because Turkish manufacturers recognize the value of automation and continuously invest in improving efficiency and productivity.

Q: Electro-Jet is widely recognized for automation solutions. What makes the company a global leader in this field?

Adolf Colom:

Automation has always been our core business.
Electro-Jet is the world’s leading company in textile mill automation, providing complete solutions for roving bobbin transportation, package handling, palletizing systems, automatic sack filling machines, boxing systems, and many other automated material handling applications.

Our objective is to build fully integrated factories where production flows automatically with minimal manual intervention.

Q: Why is automation becoming increasingly important for textile manufacturers in TĂĽrkiye?

Adolf Colom:

The answer is very simple.
Over the past few years, labor costs in TĂĽrkiye have increased significantly, while at the same time it has become much more difficult for factories to recruit skilled workers.
Because of these challenges, automation is no longer considered an optional investment. Today, virtually every new spinning project requires a fully automated solution from the beginning.

This trend has created strong demand for our systems, and we have already secured many new orders. We believe the market will continue growing rapidly.

Q: Is this automation trend limited to TĂĽrkiye, or are you seeing similar demand worldwide?

Adolf Colom:

It is definitely a global trend.

We are receiving a very high number of inquiries not only from TĂĽrkiye, but also from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and many other textile-producing countries.
Even in countries where labor costs remain relatively low, manufacturers are increasingly looking toward automation to improve efficiency, ensure production consistency, reduce dependency on manual labor, and remain competitive.

The future of spinning is clearly moving toward fully automated mills.

Q: What message would you like to share with textile manufacturers planning future investments?

Adolf Colom:

The future is automation.

Every industrialist today is searching for solutions that reduce labor requirements while increasing productivity and operational efficiency.

Our technologies help manufacturers minimize manual work, improve process reliability, and optimize overall factory performance.

We firmly believe that fully automated spinning mills will become the new industry standard worldwide, and Electro-Jet is committed to supporting customers throughout this transformation.
