The Egyptian Home Textile Export Council (HTEC) made its debut at Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Autumn Edition 2025, marking an important milestone for Egypt’s home textile sector on the global stage.
Representing over 120 member companies manufacturing and exporting a wide range of home textile products, the Council is the official government-backed body supporting Egypt’s home textile industry. Speaking during the fair, Mr. Amr Saleh, Executive Director of HTEC, emphasized the significance of participating in one of Asia’s most influential sourcing platforms.
“This is our first time at Intertextile Shanghai, and it is a great opportunity for us to introduce Egyptian home textiles to international buyers,” said Mr. Saleh. “The exhibition is extremely valuable for our council and its member companies, allowing buyers to learn more about our sector and the wide range of products we offer.”
A Strong Portfolio of Products
Egypt’s home textile sector covers a wide spectrum of end products including mechanical carpets and floor coverings, towels, bed linens, and other household textiles. The Council’s presence at Intertextile Shanghai highlights the country’s capability to provide both quality and diversity to global buyers.
Competitive Advantages in Global Trade
Mr. Saleh also pointed to Egypt’s favorable trade agreements as a strong growth driver for the industry:
- European Union: Duty-free access, giving Egyptian exports a key advantage.
- United States: Preferential 10% tariff, lower than many competitors.
- Latin America: Trade agreements with Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
In addition, Egypt’s strategic geographic location provides easy access to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and beyond, making the country an efficient global export hub.
Future Growth Potential
With strong government backing, a competitive export framework, and increasing demand for high-quality, competitively priced textiles, Egypt’s home textile industry is well-positioned to expand in global markets.
“All these factors give our sector significant growth potential,” Mr. Saleh noted. “Intertextile Shanghai provides us with the right platform to showcase this potential and build new connections with international buyers.”
The Egyptian Home Textile Export Council’s participation at Intertextile Shanghai 2025 demonstrates Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the global textile value chain and highlights the opportunities awaiting buyers and partners worldwide.
