amec Welcomes Spain’s Response Plan to U.S. Tariffs, Calls for Concrete Support for Exporters

Today, amec, the association representing internationalized industrial companies in Spain, attended the official presentation of the Spanish government’s response plan to the tariffs announced by the U.S. administration under President Donald Trump. The plan was unveiled at La Moncloa, Spain’s seat of government, and aims to shield the country’s most impacted sectors through a combination of defense, contingency, and market redirection measures.

In light of rising global trade tensions and protectionist policies, the Spanish government’s strategy includes specific support for companies affected by the new U.S. tariffs, particularly those operating in industrial export sectors.

In a statement following the presentation, amec expressed its support for the government’s proactive approach, especially the focus on market diversification and strategic international adaptation.

“At amec, we positively value the government’s plan—especially its initiatives focused on helping internationalized industrial companies diversify their markets and adapt to the new global scenario,” the organization stated. “Our priority is that these measures are not only well-intentioned, but also concrete and effective, offering real solutions for companies exporting to the U.S. and other regions experiencing trade instability.”

amec has been closely monitoring the evolving trade landscape and continues to advocate for policies that reinforce the competitiveness of Spanish industry on the global stage. The association emphasized the need for swift implementation of the announced measures and expressed its commitment to working alongside the government to ensure exporters receive the support they need during this turbulent period.

As global trade dynamics shift, amec reiterated that resilience, flexibility, and diversification remain key for companies navigating current and future challenges.
