Trützschler at Colombiatex 2025: Innovating for Latin America’s Textile Industry

Interview with Mr. Gerd Paul Wienands, Regional Sales Manager at Trützschler at Colombiatex 2025

At the Colombiatex 2025 exhibition in Medellín, Colombia, we had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Gerd Paul Wienands, Regional Sales Manager at Trützschler, to discuss the company’s ongoing projects, innovations, and their experience at this prestigious event. Mr. Wienands shared insights on Trützschler’s longstanding presence in Latin America and their continuous focus on sustainability, efficiency, and customer relationships in the textile machinery market.

Q1: Mr. Wienands, thank you for joining us today. Could you start by telling us a bit about your role at Trützschler and your presence at Colombiatex 2025?

Mr. Wienands:
Hello, my name is Gerd Wienands, and I am responsible for sales of spinning preparation machines at Trützschler. I’m based in Germany but frequently travel to South America and Turkey. We’ve been attending Colombiatex for many years because it is an important event for us, not just in Colombia but across Latin America. We have a strong presence here, especially since we have a production site in Brazil that serves the local market. Our team is here not only to showcase our latest technologies but also to connect with customers from various Latin American countries such as Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, and even Turkey. This event is crucial for us to meet existing clients and explore potential new business opportunities.

Q2: What do you consider the main purpose of attending an exhibition like Colombiatex?

Mr. Wienands:
For us, Colombiatex is not only a platform to showcase machinery but also an essential networking opportunity. It allows us to meet with existing customers, potential clients, and industry professionals in a more casual and direct setting. It’s a time to engage in meaningful conversations and receive valuable feedback on the challenges and needs of the market. South America, particularly Brazil and neighbouring countries, have always been important markets for us, and we strive to provide the best solutions, whether through new technology or modernization of existing equipment.

Q3: Could you elaborate on some of the products that Trützschler is highlighting this year?

Mr. Wienands:
Certainly! One of our key offerings this year is the CLX pre-cleaner, which is highly efficient and a popular product in the market right now. We also have the T-scan foreign material detector, which is gaining traction, along with the IDF 3 integrated draw frame. This technology is significant because it allows us to reduce the number of conventional draw frame passages, saving energy and labour while increasing efficiency.

Additionally, our new 8-head and 12-head combers are drawing a lot of attention for their innovative design and functionality. We are always innovating and introducing new solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Q4: What are some of the key challenges that your customers in South America are facing, and how is Trützschler helping them overcome these challenges?

Mr. Wienands:
South America is undergoing a lot of political and economic changes, which means our customers are facing new obstacles every year. The key challenge is often about modernization, improving energy efficiency, and reducing operational costs.

At Trützschler, we help our clients by offering cutting-edge technologies like the IDF 3, which optimizes the production process, and the integration of machines that minimize energy consumption and labour costs. We focus on solutions that not only enhance productivity but also make a positive impact on the environment by improving sustainability and reducing waste.

Q5: How do you see the future of the textile machinery industry in Latin America, and what role will Trützschler play in it?

Mr. Wienands:
The future of the textile machinery industry in Latin America looks promising, especially with the ongoing shift towards more sustainable and efficient production methods. We are confident that Trützschler will continue to play a leading role in driving this transformation. Our commitment to innovation, energy efficiency, and customer support will ensure that we are able to meet the evolving needs of the market. As Latin America continues to grow and modernize, we will be here to support our customers with the best technology, knowledge, and solutions.
