Egypt’s Chamber of Apparel and Home Textile Industries has unveiled a major initiative to strengthen garment exports to East Africa by establishing a 250-square-metre showroom and logistics hub in Nairobi, Kenya. The project aims to support Egyptian manufacturers—particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—with integrated export, warehousing, and marketing services while expanding the country’s presence in one of Africa’s fastest-growing consumer markets.

The new facility will provide dedicated showroom space, warehousing, shipment consolidation, logistics management, delivery tracking, financial collection services, and administrative support to simplify export procedures. The chamber believes the initiative will reduce operational costs, improve delivery times, and help Egyptian exporters establish a sustainable market presence in Kenya and neighbouring East African countries.
Mohamed Abdel Salam, Chairperson of the Apparel and Home Textile Chamber at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), described Kenya as a strategic gateway to East Africa and said expanding into African markets has become one of the chamber’s highest priorities. The programme is designed to strengthen the competitiveness of Egyptian manufacturers while creating new export opportunities for SMEs.

According to the chamber, Egypt exported $3.4 billion worth of ready-made garments in 2025, making it one of Africa’s leading apparel exporters. The new Kenya hub is expected to build on this momentum by introducing a “ready-stock” model that enables faster deliveries and improved after-sales services.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with Egyptian and Kenyan authorities, the Egyptian Industrial Exports Company, and El Gendy Trading. It will also leverage the trade advantages offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), providing Egyptian exporters with reduced tariffs and improved market access.
As part of the initiative, the chamber has approved the allocation of 250 square metres of showroom and storage space in Nairobi. The cost of these facilities will be covered for eligible SME members, helping them enter the Kenyan market, increase exports, and strengthen the position of Egyptian apparel products across East Africa.
