Egyptian Sustainable Fashion Brands Expand International Reach at Milano Fashion&Jewels 2026

Three Egyptian fashion brands — MEROË, Buttonup and Up-Fuse — showcased their collections in Milan during Milano Fashion&Jewels 2026, using the international exhibition as a platform to meet buyers, present sustainable products and explore new market opportunities.

The brands participated through the GTEX MENATEX Egypt programme at Fiera Milano, where the September edition of Milano Fashion&Jewels took place from 12–14 September 2026.

Three Egyptian Brands Bring Sustainable Fashion to Milan

The participating companies represent different approaches to sustainable and socially responsible fashion.

MEROË focuses on contemporary fashion and accessories developed around natural and responsibly sourced materials, while Buttonup combines fashion and lifestyle products with social impact and support for women and local communities in Egypt.

Up-Fuse, meanwhile, has built its identity around circular design and upcycling, transforming discarded materials including plastic and denim waste into fashion products and accessories.

Together, the three brands brought different expressions of Egyptian sustainable fashion to an international audience of buyers, retailers and fashion professionals in Milan.

Buyer Meetings Create New Market Connections

Beyond product presentation, the Milan participation was designed around direct market engagement.

GTEX MENATEX Egypt highlighted conversations with international buyers and industry professionals as an important part of the first days of the exhibition. For emerging and growing fashion brands, these meetings provide an opportunity to understand buyer expectations, test market positioning and begin relationships that can potentially develop into future commercial partnerships.

Milano Fashion&Jewels brings together apparel, accessories and jewellery brands with professional buyers, retailers and concept stores, making the event particularly relevant for brands looking to increase international visibility and develop distribution channels.

From Exhibition Stands to the Italian Fashion Market

The Egyptian delegation’s programme in Italy did not end with the exhibition itself.

Following Milano Fashion&Jewels, the participating brands were scheduled to continue with market visits and showroom tours across Milan. The programme gives the companies an opportunity to observe the Italian fashion market more closely, explore different retail concepts and meet additional fashion-industry stakeholders.

This type of market immersion can be particularly valuable for brands seeking international growth because commercial expansion requires more than simply exhibiting products. Understanding pricing, merchandising, retail positioning, consumer expectations and distribution structures can be equally important when entering a new market.

GTEX MENATEX Supports International Market Access

The participation forms part of the wider GTEX MENATEX programme implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC).

The programme works with textile and clothing companies in partner countries to strengthen competitiveness, sustainability and international market access. Its current phase places particular emphasis on areas including greener production, circularity, digitalisation and stronger connections with international markets.

GTEX MENATEX is funded by the governments of Switzerland, Sweden and Spain. In Egypt, the programme has supported textile and apparel companies through capacity building, sustainability initiatives and activities designed to help businesses connect with international markets.

Milano Fashion&Jewels Strengthens Its Role as a Business Platform

The September 2026 edition of Milano Fashion&Jewels took place at Fiera Milano from 12 to 14 September, bringing together fashion, accessories and jewellery companies in an increasingly international and business-oriented environment.

For Egyptian companies such as MEROË, Buttonup and Up-Fuse, participation provides exposure not only to Italian buyers but also to a wider network of international fashion professionals visiting Milan during a highly concentrated period of trade fairs and sourcing activity.

Egyptian Fashion Looks Beyond the Domestic Market

The presence of the three brands in Milan reflects a broader opportunity for Egyptian fashion businesses seeking to combine local design, craftsmanship and sustainability with international market access.

For MEROË, Buttonup and Up-Fuse, the exhibition offered a chance to present their products directly to the market, gain feedback from industry professionals and develop relationships beyond Egypt.

The next stage will depend on what follows those first meetings — from buyer follow-up and retail partnerships to stronger distribution networks and continued international exposure.

For Egypt’s growing community of fashion entrepreneurs, initiatives that connect local brands with established international markets can play an important role in turning creative potential into long-term export opportunities.
