Afghanistan Receives Official Invitation to Participate in BharatTex 2026 in New Delhi

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce has announced that the country has been officially invited to participate in BharatTex, India’s largest international textile exhibition, scheduled to take place in 2026 in New Delhi.

According to Afghan News, the invitation was finalized following a meeting between Shafi Azam, Head of Economic Relations at Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and senior officials from India’s Ministry of Textiles.

During the discussion, both sides explored opportunities to expand and strengthen economic and industrial cooperation between Afghanistan and India. Key focus areas included:

  • Cotton production and processing
  • Human capacity development
  • Industrial standardization
  • Modernization of the textile and apparel sector
  • Technology exchange
  • Professional training programs
  • Improving cotton quality
  • Evaluation of potential joint manufacturing projects

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce stated that the two sides agreed to establish a joint technical committee. This committee will follow up on the topics discussed, develop practical cooperation frameworks, and outline actionable programs for advancing collaboration in cotton and textile sectors.

BharatTex, one of India’s premier textile events, serves as a global platform for manufacturers, suppliers, and industry experts to showcase innovations across the textile and apparel value chain. Afghanistan’s participation is expected to enhance bilateral engagement and open new avenues for trade and industrial partnerships with India.
