Bharat Tex 2025: India Hosts Mega Global Textile Fair in New Delhi

The highly anticipated Bharat Tex 2025, the largest event in India’s textile industry, has officially opened at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The four-day mega fair, spanning from February 14-17, is bringing together over 5,000 exhibitors and more than 6,000 international buyers from 120+ countries, solidifying India’s role as a global textile hub.

Grand Inauguration and High-Level Participation

The prestigious event was inaugurated by India’s Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, marking the beginning of an international textile showcase that spans the entire value chain—from raw materials and fibers to technical textiles, home furnishings, and luxury fashion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the fair on February 16, further underscoring the event’s significance on a national and global scale.

Bharat Tex 2025 is organized by a consortium of 12 export promotion councils and is supported by the Ministry of Textiles. The fair extends across two venues, covering all textile sub-sectors, making it one of the most comprehensive exhibitions in the world.

A Global Platform for Textile Innovation and Business

Bharat Tex 2025 is much more than an exhibition; it is a convergence of global industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators. The event will host over 70 conferences, panel discussions, and roundtable meetings, creating a unique opportunity for collaboration and strategic business development. The platform also includes exhibitions, a hackathon-based ‘Startup Pitch Fest,’ innovation festivals, and technology and design competitions that provide funding opportunities for startups through leading investors.

More than 25 international textile organizations, including the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF), International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), EURATEX, Textile Exchange, and the US Fashion Industry Association (USFIA), are actively participating, reflecting the event’s global stature.

Special Exhibition Stands Highlighting Key Industry Trends

Bharat Tex 2025 features dedicated stands that showcase key trends and innovations in the textile sector:

  • Sustainability Stand: A dedicated space highlighting environmentally friendly and sustainable textile practices.
  • Start-Up Innovation Stand: A platform for newly established businesses to present groundbreaking solutions in the industry.
  • Handicrafts Museum: A showcase of India’s rich textile heritage and craftsmanship, promoting traditional handloom and artisanal products.

Turkish Home Textile Industry Presence

Adding to the event’s international appeal, executives from the Turkish Home Textile Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TETSİAD), including President Hasan Hüseyin Bayram and board members, are attending Bharat Tex 2025. TETSİAD executives have been engaging in discussions with leading Indian home textile and technical textile companies to explore potential collaborations and trade opportunities. President Bayram highlighted the importance of the fair in understanding global market trends and enhancing Turkey’s textile exports.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision for the Textile Industry

Addressing the gathering at Bharat Tex 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of India’s textile industry in driving economic growth and global trade. “Bharat Tex is now becoming a mega global textile event, creating a strong platform for engagement, collaboration, and partnerships among policymakers, CEOs, and industry leaders worldwide,” said Shri Modi.

He highlighted India’s 7% increase in textile and apparel exports last year and its current position as the sixth-largest global exporter in the industry. With India’s textile exports reaching ₹3 lakh crore, the government aims to triple this to ₹9 lakh crore by 2030. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of sustainability and innovation in the textile sector, encouraging startups to explore new technological solutions and business models.

The Prime Minister further emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening India’s textile value chain, with initiatives such as the Mission for Cotton Productivity and increased support for MSMEs. He encouraged the banking sector to extend financial support to textile entrepreneurs to enhance their businesses and create more employment opportunities.

India’s Textile Heritage and Future Growth

Shri Modi also recognized India’s rich textile heritage, referencing traditional garments such as Lucknowi chikankari, Gujarat’s patola, Banarasi silk, and Jammu & Kashmir’s pashmina. He emphasized the role of technology and artificial intelligence in shaping modern textile trends and ensuring that traditional craftsmanship remains relevant in the digital age.

Sustainability was a key focus of the Prime Minister’s speech, highlighting the environmental challenges posed by “fast fashion waste.” He encouraged startups to leverage India’s expertise in textile recycling and upcycling, with the goal of tapping into the growing global recycled textile market, which is projected to reach $7.5 billion.

A Transformative Event for the Global Textile Industry

Bharat Tex 2025 is poised to be a transformative event that shapes the future of the global textile industry. With strategic investment discussions, dedicated buyer-seller meets, and high-value trade partnerships, the fair offers a dynamic platform for industry stakeholders to explore new opportunities and drive growth.

As India continues its journey toward becoming a global leader in textiles, Bharat Tex 2025 stands as a testament to the nation’s vision, innovation, and unwavering commitment to excellence in the industry.
