‘Silk Route 2019 – Sustainable Textiles Summit’ to begin in Colombo

The much awaited ‘Silk Route 2019 – Sustainable Textiles Summit (Dress to Address the Earthy Say…) begins on 24 May 2019 at the plush Galle Face Hotel in Colombo.

The one-day event will be one of the biggest ever in Sri Lankan history wherein all the company owners, renowned brands as well as their vendors will come together on the same platform, with focus on sustainable business

The event is being hailed as an easy opportunity for every company to reach out to participants and show them the best of their collections.

Nearly 150 to 200 participants will be gracing the summit that is being organised by Control Union.

The event will give an opportunity to all to understand the relevance of Environmental Certification Programmes to the Textile Industry like ISO50001, ISO14064 (Green House Gas), Carbon Footprint Assessment as well as Higg Facility Environmental Module.

Besides, the summit gives a chance to meet sustainable product suppliers that include fabric, accessories, dyes and chemical suppliers among others. There will also be a comprehensive overview on sustainable textile certification (Global Organic Textile Standard).

Among the keynote speakers are Rahul Bhajekar, MD, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Amish Gosai, South Asia Manager, Textile Exchange.
