Mannington partners with Microban

Calhoun, Ga.—Mannington Mills has entered into an exclusive partnership with Microban, a leading antimicrobial consumer brand, and will feature the surface protection technology on a majority of its Adura LVT products.

Now more than ever, a key consumer concern is around the cleanliness of their homes, the company said. In Mannington’s research, almost 90% of consumers responded that they want a floor that helps to keep their home cleaner.

Microban antimicrobial surface protection is said to help protect the surface of the floor 24/7 against the growth of bacteria and remains 99% cleaner than untreated surfaces.

“The incorporation of Microban into our Adura line is a very exciting development,” said Jimmy Tuley, vice president of resilient products for Mannington Residential. “All the products in our Adura Selling Solution have Microban: Adura Max, Adura Rigid and Adura Flex. This makes the power of the Adura Selling Solution that much more relevant, and it really simplifies things for the retail salesperson. By taking the customer to this display, they can offer the best of all worlds: beautiful styling, a choice of constructions to suit the application and the added benefit of Microban.”

According to Tuley, the technology is built right into the wearlayer of the floor. “It’s completely safe and it won’t wear off over time,” he explained. “And the consumer won’t pay a premium for it, either.”

Adura Flex products with Microban will be available in February, and Adura Max and Adura Rigid will be available in May. In addition, all Adura Flex and about half of Adura Max constructions are made in the USA at Mannington’s LVT manufacturing facility in Madison, Ga.

During the first quarter of 2021, the company said it will also offer Microban on select sheet vinyl products, which are made at its company headquarters location in Salem, N.J.
