What Floor is Best to Have in Your Home

It’s hard to take off your eyes from attractive tile flooring. Tiles have been the most favoured options for long and have in used in bathrooms as well as the dining areas, kitchens, entryways, mudrooms, and hallways, laundry rooms in recent years.

With a wide variety of options available, you are bound to spoil for choice. When it comes to colour and other styling options, tile happens to be the most versatile option.

However, if you look beyond the world of tiles, there are a wide variety of options that lay in front of you which are suitable for both commercial and residential spaces. Here are some of the options that you can consider:

Porcelain and ceramic tiles

These are durable flooring options and require very little maintenance. However, you need to make sure that you seal the grout when required in order to protect it from staining. Although tiles are not that expensive, they can prove to be labour-intensive when it comes to their installation.

These have been long used in homes due to their low-maintenance and budget-friendly nature, but these need to be used carefully and should be avoided when you are installing them outside the home as they are often prone to wear and tear and tend to be brittle in nature. Also, check out level finish for more information.

Hardwood and Bamboo

Hardwood is available in a wide variety of options is highly favoured by people in both commercial as well as residential complexes. These add a distinguishing feature of your homes. But these are not ideal for places that remain humid or wet as that can damage the surface and cost you a lot of maintenance charges.

You can find such kind of flooring in both finished as well as unfinished styles. Solid hardwood is often nailed to the wood subfloor can be glued to the concrete floor as well. The unfinished solid hardwood can be easily sanded and finished whenever required.

Laminate

Laminate floors are low-cost options for hardwood. These are made out of the wood pulp and resin and give an appearance similar to that of real wood. These are somewhat similar to hardwood-style and can range from cherry to maple styles.

You will find that the laminate floors are often made out of MDF core which is topped with the help of photo layer and has a thick polymer finish. The laminate can be easily glued to the surface whenever required.

However, one thing that makes it go the downside is the fact that it cannot be refinished if there is wear and tear on the floor and the laminate might be impossible to repair. The finishing of laminate is often tough and contains high moisture.

Moreover, it is resistant to stain, and the joints are often vulnerable to moisture which can anytime swell up and chip if water enters the floor. The laminate is a perfect choice for someone who is living on rent.

Vinyl and Linoleum

Vinyl and linoleum are two completely different materials, but they have resilient flooring. Moreover, both of these are easy-to-install and can be availed in different styles, such as tiles, planks, and sheet forms.

These are often highly durable and resistant to moisture. Moreover, they are available in a wide variety of colours and styles. Vinyl and linoleum can prove to be extremely good options for spaces that experience high-traffic, including kitchens, bathrooms, dining areas, laundry rooms, mudrooms, basements.

On a final note, you can choose any of these above-mentioned flooring choices depending on your requirements and find the one that best suits your home.
