Loop Industries Launches Twist™ – A High-Performance, Fully Traceable Polyester Resin Made Entirely from Textile Waste

Clean technology pioneer Loop Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: LOOP) has unveiled Twist™, a branded circular polyester resin designed specifically for the textile and apparel industry, made 100% from textile waste and offering full traceability from feedstock to final product.

With its virgin-quality performance, low environmental footprint, and next-generation transparency, Twist™ is poised to redefine sustainable materials in fashion, sportswear, and home textiles. The resin will be manufactured at Loop’s Terrebonne facility in Canada and its forthcoming Infinite Loop™ plant in India, strategically positioned to serve global brands at competitive pricing levels.

“Twist™ represents a major step forward in closing the loop for textiles,” said Giovanni Catino, Chief Revenue Officer at Loop. “It enables our customers to meet both environmental goals and traceability requirements, while delivering premium performance.”

Built on Loop’s patented depolymerization technology, Twist™ is created by breaking down polyester waste into its monomers—DMT and MEG—purifying them, and re-polymerizing them into a resin that is chemically identical to virgin polyester. This process removes all dyes, colorants, and contaminants, delivering exceptional purity, color consistency, and dyeability, and making Twist™ compatible with existing textile manufacturing infrastructure.

Key Features of Twist™:

  • 100% recycled from textile waste – not bottles
  • Chemically identical to virgin PET
  • Reduces GHG emissions by up to 81% compared to fossil-based resin
  • Saves up to 418,600 tonnes of CO₂ annually per 70,000-tonne facility
  • Embedded chemical tracers for full traceability
  • Compatible with fashion, sportswear, and home textile applications

The environmental benefits of Twist™ have been independently validated by Franklin Associates, which found that the process could reduce emissions equivalent to over 1 billion miles driven by an average gasoline car.

As global brands face increasing regulatory pressure and rising consumer demand for circularity and transparency, Loop’s Twist™ offers a high-performance, scalable solution that merges innovation with responsibility.

The company is currently advancing offtake discussions with leading apparel brands for supply from its India joint venture, making Twist™ a critical material for companies aiming to meet future sustainability targets.

“Twist™ gives brands the tools they need to close the loop on textile waste — combining performance, transparency, and circular innovation like never before,” added Catino.

Loop Industries continues to lead the industry by turning post-consumer textile waste into a value-added, traceable, and sustainable resource—transforming the way materials are made in the fashion world.
