Home From Portugal Highlights Premium Textile Excellence at Intertextile Shanghai 2025

At Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2025, Portugal’s textile industry was proudly represented by the Home From Portugal Association, an organization that brings together small and medium-sized companies specializing in medium-to-high-end home textiles.

Speaking at the fair, Mr. Xavier Leite, President of Home From Portugal Association, underlined the importance of the exhibition as a gateway to new markets:

“Intertextile Shanghai is an excellent platform to explore new opportunities for Portuguese companies. China is a new market for us, but we believe it offers real potential for high-quality European home textiles. This exhibition is a great starting point for building long-term partnerships.”

Portugal’s Competitive Edge in Home Textiles

Portuguese home textile companies are internationally recognized for their creativity, European design sensibility, and consistent quality. Unlike mass producers, Portugal’s mills typically operate with smaller capacities of 40–100 looms, focusing on flexibility, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. This approach allows them to deliver unique collections with refined taste, catering to the needs of demanding buyers.

Portugal’s home textiles are already well-established in the United States and Japan, two of the world’s most discerning markets for high-end products. With this strong foundation, Portuguese manufacturers are now eager to expand into China and other Asian markets, offering a distinct alternative to large-scale production with their premium, design-driven collections.

“China has excellent producers, but what Portugal brings is something different – European taste, colors, and design. We don’t compete on massive volume but on quality, exclusivity, and style,” Mr. Leite explained.

Strengthening Global Reach Through Intertextile Shanghai

By participating in Intertextile Shanghai, Home From Portugal reinforces the country’s ambition to broaden its export destinations and showcase its premium positioning in the global textile supply chain.

“Events like this are essential for us,” said Mr. Leite. “They allow Portuguese companies to connect with professional buyers worldwide, present our collections, and highlight why Portuguese home textiles deserve recognition for their quality and creativity.”

With its strong track record in delivering innovative, sustainable, and high-end home textiles, Portugal continues to strengthen its reputation as a reliable partner for global buyers seeking products that combine European craftsmanship with modern design.
