Closing the Loop: Gneuss Presents High-Efficiency Fibre Recycling Systems at ITMA ASIA 2025

Hall 4, Stand B107

Under the motto “Rethinking Fibre Recycling”, Gneuss presents its innovative OMNImax Recycling Systems, tailored for the efficient and sustainable processing of post-consumer and industrial PET fibre waste.

Tackling the Challenges of Fibre Waste

PET fibre waste poses unique challenges: low bulk density, moisture, and spin finish oils make conventional recycling difficult. In parallel, demand for high-quality PET flakes is rising, driven by bottle-to-bottle recycling targets. Gneuss’ OMNImax Recycling System offers a smart, direct solution – without pre-drying or the need for SSP/LSP – and integrates seamlessly into existing fibre production.

The OMNImax Advantage

The OMNImax Recycling line combines key Gneuss technologies:

• 3C Rotary Feeder for processing light fibre materials
• MRS Extruder with extended multi-rotation section for deep vacuum degassing
• RSFgenius Filtration System for ultra-fine, self-cleaning melt filtration
• VIS Online Viscometer for real-time viscosity control

This compact setup allows for continuous fibre recycling with minimal footprint and energy use – no pelletising required. The resulting product quality rivals that of virgin material.

MRS Extruder – Unique Vacuum Devolatilisation for High Melt Quality

The MRS extruder combines single-screw simplicity with a patented multi-rotation section. This configuration dramatically increases the melt’s surface area under deep vacuum, ensuring highly efficient removal of moisture, spin finish oils and volatile contaminants. The result is a stable, high-quality melt with minimal thermal stress – ideal for fibre applications where viscosity and purity are critical. This makes the MRS extruder a key element in fibre recycling with clear processing advantages.

Gneuss Melt Filtration – Efficiency Boost for Fibre Applications

Gneuss’ RSFgenius Rotary Filtration System features an integrated, fully automatic back-flushing mechanism that allows screens to be re-used up to 400 times – with filtration finenesses below 10 µm (1200 mesh). Even in fibre extrusion processes, where high melt purity and process stability are essential, screen changes are performed without interrupting production. The RSFgenius can also be retrofitted into existing fibre extrusion lines, allowing producers to process more contaminated input materials and/or use finer screens without compromising throughput or product quality. Each integration is custom-designed and usually does not require relocating existing equipment.

Designed for Direct Fibre-to-Fibre Recycling

Thanks to its modular design, OMNImax can be integrated into fibre spinning lines or stand-alone operations. From staple fibres to BCF and filament yarns, OMNImax provides the flexibility to meet diverse recycling demands while maintaining high throughput and melt stability.

Proven Worldwide – Compact and Versatile

First applied in 2011 to treat oil-contaminated PET fibre waste, Gneuss’ MRS technology has since become a proven solution for fibre recycling worldwide. The OMNImax system offers a compact, modular setup that integrates easily into existing production environments. Its versatility, efficiency and high-quality output make it an ideal choice for fibre manufacturers seeking a reliable solution for closed-loop recycling – wherever they are in the world.
