A new initiative aimed at strengthening Egypt’s cotton and textile value chain has been launched through the Egyptian Cotton Festival, offering support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating across the sector.
The programme, organized through cooperation between the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), Cairo Governorate, and the Egyptian Marketing Studies Foundation, seeks to connect smaller cotton producers and textile businesses with larger brands, manufacturers, and export markets.
Supporting Growth Across the Cotton Value Chain
The festival targets a wide range of businesses involved in Egypt’s cotton ecosystem, including textile manufacturers, spinning and weaving companies, cotton furnishing producers, ginning machinery suppliers, chemical and dyeing companies, as well as agents and traders dealing with raw cotton materials.
Through the programme, participating companies will gain access to financing opportunities, technical support, and business development services designed to enhance productivity and competitiveness.
Organizers believe that improving the capabilities of smaller enterprises is essential to strengthening Egypt’s position as a global cotton and textile hub while creating new opportunities for sustainable industrial growth.

Expanding Export Opportunities
A key objective of the initiative is to help SMEs enter international markets and strengthen their export readiness.
Participants will receive guidance on export procedures, certification requirements, and regulatory compliance, while also benefiting from incentives available under Egypt’s MSME Development Law No. 152 of 2020 and Law No. 6 of 2025.
The programme aims to help companies improve product quality, meet international standards, and build stronger relationships with overseas buyers.

Connecting SMEs with Major Brands
Another important aspect of the Egyptian Cotton Festival is the integration of smaller manufacturers into broader industrial supply chains.
By creating stronger links between SMEs and large Egyptian brands, manufacturers, and exporters, the initiative seeks to increase local sourcing, improve production efficiency, and create new commercial opportunities throughout the sector.
Officials involved in the programme stated that the initiative will contribute to expanding the global presence of Egyptian cotton products while supporting value-added industries related to cotton processing, spinning, weaving, finishing, and textile manufacturing.
As Egypt continues to invest in modernizing its textile industry, initiatives such as the Egyptian Cotton Festival are expected to play an important role in empowering SMEs and enhancing the international competitiveness of one of the country’s most strategic industrial sectors.
