Spanish performance brand CUPRA has partnered with Toray Industries to feature Ultrasuede® nu in the interior design of its latest concept, the Cupra Tindaya Showcar, as well as in select lifestyle products. The showcar, which highlights CUPRA’s progressive design philosophy, will make its global debut at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, Germany later this month.
Redefining Automotive Interiors
The Cupra Tindaya Showcar incorporates Ultrasuede® nu across key touchpoints, including the dashboard, door panels, center console, and steering wheel. This marks the first-ever use of Ultrasuede® nu with a metallic finish in automotive interiors, offering a sophisticated look with a deep metallic sheen, luxurious smoothness, and enhanced functionality.
Ultrasuede® nu is a pioneering material that combines sustainability with design excellence. It is crafted from:
- Polyester polymerized with ethylene glycol derived from sugarcane molasses waste
- Polyurethane composed of polyol made from non-edible castor oil
With approximately 30% plant-based raw materials, the material is recognized for aligning with CUPRA’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and bold design.
CUPRA: A Brand of Disruption and Emotion
Since its launch in 2018, CUPRA has established itself as an unconventional challenger brand, blending emotional design, electrification, and performance. In just seven years, it has launched seven vehicle models and sold more than 900,000 units worldwide, extending its design philosophy beyond the automotive sector through the CUPRA Design House.
Lifestyle Innovation: Harper Collective Collaboration
Beyond the Tindaya Showcar, Ultrasuede® nu also features in lifestyle products, including the interior lining of a premium suitcase developed in collaboration with British travel brand Harper Collective.
The suitcase combines lightweight durability with refined elegance, delivering a premium travel experience. The Harper Collective x CUPRA collection will be available exclusively in Munich for two weeks at Oberpollinger and the CUPRA City Garage, before its online launch on September 22 via CUPRA and Harper Collective’s official websites
