SASA Polyester Sanayi A.Ş., one of the world’s leading producers of polyester-based materials, has officially completed commercial operations of Türkiye’s largest Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) facility in Adana, marking a strategic milestone for the nation’s textile and petrochemical sectors.
With a total investment of $1.72 billion USD, the new PTA plant boasts an annual production capacity of 1.75 million tons. This ambitious project was executed with the involvement of more than 150 companies and 40 million man-hours of work. The facility began commercial production as of March 2025, and it is expected to significantly reduce Türkiye’s dependence on imported raw materials while strengthening the country’s global competitiveness in high-value polymer production.
The new PTA facility will supply SASA’s own integrated production chain, enabling greater efficiency in filament yarn, fibre, and polymer production, while also offering long-term gains in profitability and export potential. The company expects this project alone to contribute approximately $350 million annually to SASA’s turnover.
In parallel, SASA has also commissioned its Textile Chips, Bottle Chips, and Pet Chips Production Facility, developed in partnership with MTR Technology at its Adana campus. This facility, with an annual capacity of 330,000 tons and a $230 million investment, began commercial operations in April 2025.
As part of its forward-looking investment strategy, SASA is now preparing to launch Türkiye’s first Low-Melt Fiber Production Facility by 2025. The project will focus on supplying raw materials for nonwoven applications in hygiene, medical, and technical textiles, further supporting Türkiye’s domestic industry and import reduction goals.
These integrated investments are projected to increase SASA’s export share from 35% to 50% over the coming years, consolidating its position as a global leader in polyester technologies and contributing to the long-term development of Türkiye’s industrial infrastructure.
