Chinese Home Textile Makers Welcome Return of U.S. Orders, Expand Global Reach Amid Tariff Easing

Home textile manufacturers in Jiangsu Province, China, are witnessing a rebound in U.S. orders following the recent adjustments in U.S.-China tariff policies, while also actively diversifying into new overseas markets.

Nantong City, recognized as China’s “home textile capital,” is home to the China Dieshiqiao International Home Textiles City, which exports products to over 130 countries and regions. With an annual trade volume of 250 billion yuan, the hub plays a critical role in China’s textile exports.

One such exporter, Jiangsu Xinshengyuan Bedding Articles Company, which derives 90% of its business from international clients—primarily the U.S.—reported a significant turnaround after facing setbacks due to tariffs imposed under the Trump administration earlier this year.

“After the tariff adjustments on May 14, many American customers resumed contact, requesting continuation of shipments,” said Fan Jiali, the company’s administrative director. “Sales teams are actively negotiating new orders, and the outlook is steadily improving.”

The easing of trade tensions has also brought a surge in foreign buyers returning to Nantong. Brady, a long-time Indian trader in the city, noted a rebound in shipping activities after delays and price increases linked to the previous U.S. tariff stance. “This market is really strong—you find innovation, variety, and fair pricing,” he said.

Another exporter, Nantong Bulanni Home Textile Company, said the trade war highlighted the risks of overdependence on one market and accelerated its pivot to new regions. The company recently signed a warehouse service agreement with the Dieshiqiao Home Textile Industry Group to facilitate its expansion into emerging markets.

“American trade is just one piece of the global puzzle,” said Shi Si, the company’s director general. “By leveraging Dieshiqiao’s overseas warehouses, we aim to bring our high-quality, affordable products to a wider global audience.”

To support this international push, Nantong has established the Dieshiqiao Cross-Border E-Commerce Industry Center, integrating e-commerce tools with traditional manufacturing.

The city now operates 31 overseas warehouses, including seven provincial-level public facilities, covering regions such as Europe, the U.S., and Belt and Road partner countries.
“Our goal is to help enterprises lower costs, improve service quality, and enhance after-sales engagement through these warehouses,” said Jia Changwu, general manager of international trade at the Dieshiqiao Home Textiles Industry Group.

As global trade conditions stabilize, Nantong’s home textile sector is seizing the opportunity to not only regain lost ground in the U.S. but also carve new paths in the broader international marketplace.
