A new wool yarn production department has been officially commissioned at the Bayramaly Textile Complex, marking a significant step in expanding the country’s textile manufacturing capabilities and strengthening its industrial base.
Located in the Mary velayat, the new facility increases the number of production divisions at the complex to five, further enhancing its operational capacity and product diversification.
Expanding Capacity with Local Raw Materials
The newly launched department has an annual production capacity of 130 tons of high-quality wool yarn, utilizing locally sourced goat down and camel wool. The strategy to rely exclusively on domestic raw materials is expected to reduce production costs while supporting local livestock sectors.
Raw materials will be sourced from both private and state-owned farms, aligning with broader efforts to build a more integrated and self-sufficient textile value chain.
Advanced Machinery and Integrated Production
The department is equipped with modern wool-processing machinery supplied by Cormatex S.r.L., covering a production area of nearly 5,000 square meters.
Operations are structured across three key units:
- Spinning, where initial washing and fiber preparation take place
- Dyeing, responsible for color processing of yarn
- Laboratory, ensuring quality control through advanced diagnostic systems
This integrated setup enables consistent product quality while meeting international production standards.
Strengthening Exports and Employment
The launch of the new department is expected to expand the product portfolio of Turkmenistan’s textile industry and enhance its export potential. More than 110 new jobs have been created, with production running across three shifts.
Currently, products manufactured under the “Merw” brand are exported to markets including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine, reflecting strong regional demand for Turkmen textiles.
A Growing Industrial Hub
The Bayramaly Textile Complex remains one of the country’s key industrial centers, operating a full-cycle production system from raw cotton processing to finished textile goods. Existing divisions include spinning, weaving, dyeing, and sewing units, all equipped with advanced European machinery.
With over 850 employees, the complex produces a wide range of products, including towels, bathrobes, and kitchen textiles, supplied both domestically and internationally.
Continued Growth Momentum
In the first four months of the year, the complex reported production output valued at over 49 million manats, exceeding its plan by 136 percent and marking a year-on-year growth of more than 18 percent.
The commissioning of the new wool yarn department reflects a broader commitment to industrial modernization, export expansion, and value-added production—positioning the Bayramaly Textile Complex as a key player in the regional textile landscape.a
