Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and MAS Holdings have announced the development of a new dedicated fashion logistics hub in Sri Lanka, marking a significant investment in the country’s apparel supply chain infrastructure and reinforcing Sri Lanka’s role as a key regional logistics and manufacturing center.
The project will be developed through Hellmann MAS Supply Chain (HMSC), the joint venture established by the two companies in 2018. The new built-to-suit contract logistics facility will be located in Kimbulapitiya, in Sri Lanka’s Gampaha District, just six kilometers from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), providing direct access to international trade routes and global fashion markets.
The facility will serve as a specialized fashion logistics hub within Hellmann’s South Asia network, supporting apparel brands with integrated supply chain solutions and enhanced distribution capabilities across multiple regions.
Expanding Fashion Logistics Capabilities
The investment represents an important step in Hellmann’s Forward2030 strategy, which identifies fashion logistics as one of the company’s key growth sectors. As fashion supply chains become increasingly complex and demand faster delivery times, logistics providers are investing heavily in specialized infrastructure capable of supporting global apparel brands.
Sri Lanka’s geographic location between major markets in Asia, Africa, and Europe makes the country an attractive logistics gateway for international fashion companies seeking efficient and flexible supply chain solutions.
The new facility will cover more than 8,000 square meters and has been designed specifically to meet the requirements of the fashion industry. Features include dual-zone humidity and climate control systems to protect sensitive textile and apparel products, as well as solar panels that contribute to the facility’s sustainability objectives.
The scalable infrastructure is expected to support regional distribution activities while helping brands improve supply chain responsiveness and operational efficiency.

Strengthening Sri Lanka’s Apparel Ecosystem
The project further strengthens the long-standing collaboration between Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and MAS Holdings, one of the largest apparel manufacturers in South Asia.
Through Hellmann MAS Supply Chain, the two companies combine Hellmann’s global logistics expertise with MAS Holdings’ extensive experience in apparel manufacturing, supply chain management, and innovation. The partnership provides integrated end-to-end logistics services for international fashion brands operating across South Asia.
Patrick Grzywa, Regional COO Contract Logistics IMEA at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, highlighted Sri Lanka’s growing importance within the global fashion supply chain.
“Sri Lanka combines world-class manufacturing and contract logistics capabilities with agile fashion supply chains, making it a trusted partner for global brands. With this new built-to-suit facility, we are strengthening the end-to-end fashion logistics capabilities of Hellmann MAS Supply Chain, our mutual joint venture with MAS Holdings,” he said.
Supporting the Future of Global Apparel Supply Chains
For MAS Holdings, the investment aligns with its broader strategy of expanding beyond traditional garment manufacturing and creating greater value through integrated supply chain solutions.
Shakthi Ranatunge, Chief Operating Officer of MAS Holdings and Board Member of Hellmann MAS Supply Chain, emphasized the role of the facility in enhancing Sri Lanka’s competitiveness within the global apparel industry.
“This investment reflects MAS’ continued commitment to strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a globally competitive apparel hub. Through our partnership with Hellmann, we are moving beyond traditional garment manufacturing to enable more integrated, end-to-end supply chain solutions for global brands,” he said.
According to Ranatunge, the new hub will help improve speed, flexibility, and resilience throughout apparel supply chains while supporting the development of a future-ready textile and garment ecosystem in Sri Lanka.
As apparel brands increasingly seek supply chain diversification, near-market responsiveness, and sustainability-focused logistics solutions, investments such as the Hellmann-MAS facility demonstrate how logistics infrastructure is becoming a critical competitive advantage in the global textile and apparel industry.
The new fashion logistics hub is expected to further strengthen Sri Lanka’s position as one of South Asia’s most important apparel manufacturing and sourcing destinations while supporting the evolving needs of international fashion brands.
