The Apparel and Textile Transformation Initiative (ATTI), a newly launched global program spearheaded by the International Apparel Federation (IAF) and the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF), has shared updates on its early actions to advance sustainability and modernization in the textile and apparel industry.
While ATTI has a global scope, its initial implementation is focused on Türkiye and Bangladesh, two of the world’s leading sourcing and manufacturing hubs.
Progress in Türkiye
First Working Group Meeting Held in Istanbul
ATTI convened the inaugural meeting of the ATTI Türkiye Working Group earlier this month, co-chaired with the Istanbul Apparel Exporters’ Association (İHKİB). Key participants included:
- Turkish Textile Employers’ Union (TTEA)
- Major international brands: Bestseller, H&M, Inditex, PVH, Varner
- Representatives from Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade
Focus on Climate Law and Renewable Energy Integration
The discussions centered on:
- Türkiye’s forthcoming Climate Law
- Challenges related to integrating solar power into the national electricity grid
ATTI noted that the working group is now collaborating on specific follow-up actions to support climate compliance and energy transition within the country’s garment supply chain.

ERI Appointed for Industry Needs Assessment
In Bangladesh, ATTI is collaborating closely with:
- Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA)
- Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA)
To identify high-priority sustainability initiatives, the program has appointed Energy Resources International (ERI), a Dhaka-based sustainability consultancy, to conduct the ATTI Bangladesh Needs Assessment.
The assessment will begin in the coming weeks, with a findings review meeting scheduled for early 2026 in Dhaka.
