MEM Textile Explores South American Market Opportunities at Colombiamoda 2025

MEM Textile, one of Turkey’s leading integrated textile producers, participated for the first time at Colombiamoda 2025 in Medellín, as part of its strategy to explore new opportunities in Latin America’s growing textile and apparel market.

Speaking during the exhibition, Mr. Yasin Özdemir, Export Manager of MEM Textile, highlighted the company’s strong production capacity and its vision for expanding into new markets.

“Our company, based in Kahramanmaraş, produces around 190 tons of yarn and nearly 50 tons of printed and dyed knitted fabrics daily,” Mr. Özdemir explained. “As an integrated facility, we manage the entire process – from cotton and fiber to yarn, fabric, dyeing, printing, finishing, and delivery.”

MEM Textile currently exports mainly to European markets, Russia, and North Africa, supplying major international brands. However, with global markets facing slower demand, the company is actively seeking to diversify its reach.

“We came to Colombia because we believe South America has significant potential,” Mr. Özdemir said. “It may not happen in a single attempt, but with persistence, we are confident we can build strong business relationships here. Beyond Colombia, we are also interested in Mexico and other regional markets.”

The company is particularly focused on sustainable and value-added textiles, positioning itself above standard commodity production. MEM Textile holds certifications for recycled and organic products, with approvals from major brands such as Lacoste and Hugo Boss. Its product range includes organic cotton, hemp, linen, wool, and recycled fibers – aligning with the global trend towards environmentally responsible sourcing.

At Colombiamoda, Mr. Özdemir observed strong interest in activewear and swimwear fabrics, with buyers increasingly requesting recycled and eco-friendly options.

“Recycled fabrics are now in high demand worldwide,” he noted. “We believe this will be a key driver in Latin American markets as well.”

Reflecting on the exhibition experience, he added:

“Colombiamoda is lively and culturally unique, with visitors showing genuine interest. We hope that in future editions the fair will attract even more international buyers, creating greater opportunities for business exchange.”

With its first participation in Colombiamoda, MEM Textile takes a confident step towards expanding its global presence, aiming to bring Turkish quality, sustainability, and innovation to South America’s dynamic textile industry.
