Durak Tekstil Launches Laser-Resistant Sewing Thread for Denim

Durak Tekstil, a global leader in high-performance industrial threads, has unveiled an innovative product designed to tackle one of the denim industry’s most persistent challenges: seam damage during laser finishing. The newly developed Durak Laser Safe thread enables manufacturers to carry out laser applications on denim fabrics with greater confidence, durability, and efficiency.

Addressing a Key Industry Problem

In denim production, laser technology has rapidly become the preferred alternative to traditional stonewashing, offering a safer and more sustainable process for both workers and the environment. However, the high heat and energy generated during laser fading and design treatments often cause conventional threads to burn, break, or weaken — resulting in defective seams and reduced product quality.

Durak Tekstil’s new Laser Safe thread eliminates this issue by maintaining its strength and integrity under intense laser exposure. Tested at various laser intensities, the polyester–cotton blended thread has demonstrated up to twice the durability of competing products, ensuring that seams remain intact even during the most demanding applications.

“Safer, Longer-Lasting Denim”

Yiğit Durak, Vice Chairman of Durak Tekstil, emphasized the significance of this development for both producers and end-users:

“Laser finishing has become an essential standard in denim fashion. It is not only safer for people and the environment compared to stonewashing but also a core element of modern design. Yet, the risk of burning or breaking threads during this process has long been a problem. With our Durak Laser Safe thread, manufacturers can now perform laser applications with complete confidence, while consumers benefit from denim products that last longer.”

Versatile Applications Beyond Denim

While engineered with denim in mind, Durak Laser Safe is versatile enough for use across multiple sectors, including suits, home textiles, and workwear. Available in ticket sizes 30 and 50 with a variety of colors, the product is being launched initially in Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan, with further international markets to follow.

Strengthening Innovation in Textiles

By addressing a critical need in the denim supply chain, Durak Tekstil reinforces its commitment to providing high-value, sustainable solutions to the global textile industry. The company’s innovation is expected to support manufacturers in improving efficiency, product performance, and customer satisfaction while contributing to safer and more environmentally conscious production practices.
