Kraig Biocraft Laboratories (OTCQB: KBLB), a global leader in recombinant spider silk technology, has announced that it has taken possession of its third silkworm rearing center, marking the completion of the company’s core physical infrastructure upgrades in preparation for a major production scale-up planned for 2026.
The newly acquired facility represents the final major milestone in Kraig Labs’ multi-year expansion strategy. With three fully operational rearing centers in place, the company will be able to run three simultaneous production cycles, significantly increasing production diversity and enabling capacity to meet and exceed one metric ton of finished spider silk per month.
According to the company, the scale-up is the result of years of development and operational refinement. Facility design, staffing models, geographic placement, workflow optimization, and training programs have all been adjusted based on lessons learned from earlier production campaigns.
Largest Rearing Facility to Date
The third rearing center is the largest single-site facility Kraig Labs has operated so far. Designed for substantially higher throughput, the center maintains the biological consistency and operational discipline required for large-scale spider silk manufacturing. The company said the facility is expected to unlock the next level of production capacity as output accelerates through 2026.

A key advantage of the new site is its strategic proximity to recently acquired mulberry fields, which will supply the expanded feedstock required to support higher silkworm volumes. These mulberry resources underpin Kraig Labs’ vertically integrated production model, enabling continuous, high-volume operations across all rearing centers.
The company confirmed that commissioning of the new facility is underway, with operations expected to begin later this quarter.
Positioning for Commercial-Scale Production
“This milestone represents a critical step forward in our evolution as a world-leading supplier of spider silk,” said Kim Thompson, Founder and CEO of Kraig Labs. “With this final rearing center secured and supported by expanded mulberry cultivation, we now have the infrastructure and feedstock capacity in place to support continuous, scalable production at levels that position Kraig Labs to fulfill our vision of commercially scalable and cost-effective spider silk production.”
Kraig Biocraft Laboratories said it will provide additional updates as the new rearing center is fully integrated into its 2026 production campaign, reinforcing its ambitions to bring spider silk materials to industrial-scale commercial markets.
