Marco Salvadè, President of ACIMIT – the Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association – has reaffirmed the central role of ITMA Europe as the world’s most important textile machinery exhibition, describing it as the industry’s true reference point for technology, innovation, and long-term investment decisions.
ACIMIT on the Value of a Four-Year Exhibition Cycle
According to Salvadè, ITMA Europe stands apart from other shows due to its scale, depth, and four-year cycle. He likened the exhibition to a “university for textile machinery,” where visitors can experience fully developed technologies and complete machine solutions rather than representative displays. This long interval, he explained, allows manufacturers sufficient time to develop meaningful innovations worthy of global presentation.
Salvadè cautioned against the growing trend of hosting textile machinery exhibitions every year, arguing that such frequency does not align with the realities of industrial technology development. Unlike consumer electronics, textile machinery requires time-intensive research, engineering, and testing. As a result, annual exhibitions often struggle to deliver truly new content, while the primary financial benefit tends to favor organizers rather than exhibitors or visitors.

While acknowledging the role of regional and local exhibitions—particularly in supporting specific markets—Salvadè emphasized that major international exhibitions should be held every two or four years to ensure value for all stakeholders, including manufacturers, customers, and investors.
ACIMIT continues to view ITMA Europe as the cornerstone event for the global textile machinery industry, setting the standard for quality, innovation, and meaningful industry engagement worldwide.
