At Colombiatex 2026, textile producers from across the globe gathered not only to showcase their capabilities but also to explore new growth frontiers. Among them was Erez Group, a fully integrated textile manufacturer from Turkey, actively seeking to expand beyond its established markets.
In this interview with Bahadır Muğ, conducted by Behnam Ghasemi, the company shares its perspective on market diversification, competition with Asian suppliers, and opportunities in South America.
Q: What brought Erez Group to Colombiatex 2026?
As Erez Group, we are a fully integrated textile company, with dyeing, printing, and weaving all under one roof. Currently, we are active in both European and American markets, where we have reached a certain level of maturity.
Our main objective in coming to Colombiatex is to explore new markets and gain new customers. We see this region as a potential opportunity for expansion beyond our existing markets.
Q: How do you evaluate the South American market, particularly Colombia?
To be honest, we are still in the early stages of understanding this market. You could say we are here to “cast the net” and see what opportunities arise.
We know there is potential, but whether it translates into large-scale business or smaller opportunities remains to be seen. This is part of the process of entering a new region—testing, learning, and gradually building connections.
Q: What is your impression of the exhibition so far?
Overall, the exhibition is active and well-attended. However, our specific location within the fair has not been as busy as other sections.
We believe that positioning within the exhibition plays a critical role. If we were located in a more central or high-traffic area, the outcome could have been significantly more productive for us.
Q: What type of products are attracting attention in this market?
We have observed that visitors are particularly interested in products they are less familiar with—especially fabrics such as cupro and Tencel, as well as materials with a linen-like feel.
This is likely influenced by the regional climate. Lightweight, breathable, and natural-feel fabrics seem to resonate more strongly with buyers in this market.
Q: Considering China’s strong presence in the region, how can Turkish products compete?
Competing with China on price is simply not realistic. That is not where our strength lies.
The only viable strategy is differentiation—offering higher-quality products and unique materials that cannot be easily replicated. Turkish textiles must position themselves in the premium or value-added segment rather than trying to compete on cost.
Q: Do you see Colombia as a gateway to other South American markets?
Yes, potentially. Markets such as Argentina, Peru, and Panama could be accessed through connections established here.
However, success depends on being in the right place, meeting the right customers, and building relationships that can lead to business. If those conditions are met, we believe there is real potential in the region.

Q: Can you tell us more about your production capabilities?
Erez Group operates as a fully integrated production facility. From weaving to dyeing and printing, all processes are managed internally, except for yarn sourcing.
We currently employ approximately 450 to 480 people, with a monthly production capacity of around 1.5 million meters of fabric. This integrated structure allows us to maintain consistent quality and respond flexibly to market demands.
Conclusion: A Strategic Shift Toward Market Diversification
Erez Group’s presence at Colombiatex 2026 reflects a broader trend among Turkish textile manufacturers: the search for new markets beyond traditional export destinations.
While challenges such as competition from low-cost producers remain, companies that focus on quality, innovation, and strategic positioning may find new opportunities in emerging regions like South America.
