An Egyptian trade delegation is set to visit São Paulo, Brazil, for two days of meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and identifying new business opportunities, including cooperation in the textile, cotton and apparel sectors.
The delegation’s visit, scheduled for December 7 and 8, has been organized by the Egyptian Commercial Services and will include representatives from Egypt’s trade promotion authorities.
During the visit, Egyptian representatives are expected to engage with Brazilian companies, including Elktob Textiles and Almatex, which are active in cotton yarn and fabric markets.
Egypt-Brazil Trade Relations in Focus
On December 7, the Egyptian delegation will hold meetings with representatives of Brazilian government agencies and industry associations. Discussions are expected to focus on expanding commercial cooperation and identifying opportunities for Egyptian products in the Brazilian market.
The following day, the delegation will participate in a seminar focusing on the free trade agreement between Egypt and Mercosur, which entered into force in September 2017.
The agreement provides an important framework for expanding trade between Egypt and Mercosur member countries and could create additional opportunities for textile and apparel companies seeking access to new markets.
Following the seminar, business matchmaking meetings will bring together Egyptian and Brazilian companies. The program is being organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
Brazilian Demand for Egyptian Textiles
Textiles and apparel already represent an important component of trade between the two markets.

Between January and October 2017, Brazil imported approximately $6.7 million worth of cotton and cotton yarn from Egypt, according to data from Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
Brazil also imported around $3 million worth of Egyptian apparel during the same period.
The São Paulo meetings could help Egyptian textile manufacturers strengthen their presence in Brazil while encouraging new partnerships across cotton, yarn, fabrics and apparel.
