BB Engineering GmbH records order intake from Thai Polyester for four VacuFil recycling systems

BB Engineering GmbH (Germany), a subsidiary of Oerlikon Textile, has announced that Thai Polyester Co., Ltd. (Thailand) has placed a significant order for four VacuFil recycling systems to enable the processing of PET bottle flakes with direct spinning.

Founded in 2001, Thai Polyester is one of Thailand’s leading polyester producers with an annual production capacity of 316,800 tons. The company exclusively relies on German technology and already operates advanced Oerlikon Barmag and Oerlikon Neumag systems. With this new investment, Thai Polyester continues to strengthen its commitment to high-performance and sustainable polyester production.

The newly ordered VacuFil systems will convert existing spinning plant equipment from standard polyester processing to PET bottle flake processing without any loss in performance, enabling a seamless transition toward recycled raw materials.

EcoTPC Yarn Production with Integrated Recycling Technology

BB Engineering will supply the complete recycling process, covering everything from drying and extrusion through to fine filtration, fully optimized for spinning plant integration. Drawing on decades of experience in spinning plant technology, BB Engineering ensures that the recycling process is engineered to deliver the required end-product quality, even when processing challenging recycled raw materials.

The four VacuFil systems will be installed within Thai Polyester’s existing building infrastructure and production landscape, delivering a combined output of approximately 4,000 kg/h. In addition, the systems will be complemented by BB Engineering 3DD mixers, allowing direct dye injection into the recycled melt flow for improved color control and process efficiency. Commissioning is scheduled for 2023.

The recycled output will be used to manufacture Thai Polyester’s ‘EcoTPC’ brand yarns, which are produced 100% from recycled bottle, fiber, and yarn waste. All EcoTPC yarns are GRS certified, supporting traceability and sustainability across the value chain.

With this investment, Thai Polyester reinforces its position as a regional leader in sustainable polyester manufacturing, while BB Engineering further strengthens its global footprint in advanced polyester recycling and direct spinning technologies.
