As part of its mission to attract foreign investment and expand export markets, the Apparel Export Council of Egypt (AECE) recently facilitated a series of high-level coordination meetings between one of the world’s leading apparel companies and several Egyptian garment manufacturers.
The international group—operating in key production hubs such as China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Guatemala—held discussions with Egyptian factories specializing in women’s blouses, dresses, skirts, and woven trousers. The goal was to assess potential collaborations and explore the signing of export agreements.
Sherin Hosni, Executive Director of AECE, welcomed the visiting delegation and emphasized Egypt’s unique advantages in the global textile and apparel landscape. She pointed to Egypt’s competitive production costs, skilled workforce, and strategic geographic location, which provides easy access to regional and global markets.
“Egypt’s extensive network of trade agreements with major global economies eliminates many customs barriers,” Hosni noted, “creating a highly favorable environment for international buyers and investors looking to diversify their sourcing.”
The global company’s representatives highlighted a strategic shift in their sourcing strategy, citing rising production and shipping costs in Asia, as well as tariff measures introduced under former U.S. President Donald Trump, as key drivers. Egypt, they said, presents a promising alternative due to its proximity to European and American markets and its ability to meet quality and volume expectations.
The meetings are part of AECE’s broader efforts to position Egypt as a regional hub for garment manufacturing, leveraging global supply chain shifts to secure long-term partnerships with international brands.
