Westwing, Europe’s leading e-commerce brand for Beautiful Living, has unveiled Danilo, a new furniture line within the Westwing Collection made from recycled textiles and bio-based materials. This innovative launch transforms textile waste into design-forward pieces that embody the company’s philosophy of merging sustainability with modern aesthetics.
From Waste to Beauty: Turning Textiles into Design
Developed in collaboration with Rezign®, a specialist in sustainable surfaces, the Danilo line includes dining tables and stools made from textiles such as old denim, military uniforms, tailored suits, and jute coffee bags. These discarded materials are shredded, carded into felt, and pressed together with a biodegradable binder derived from potato starch residue, creating a durable and visually captivating veneer.
Each piece in the collection reflects a commitment to circular design — turning what was once waste into a meaningful, high-quality material that celebrates texture, color, and story.
“With Danilo, we show that design and responsibility belong together,” says Erasmia Kitou, Director Corporate Sustainability at Westwing. “By transforming discarded textiles into striking surfaces, we turn waste into beauty and inspiration. Each piece carries its own story, where refined design meets conscious choice.”
A Conscious Step Forward in Home Design
Available in a range of colors and finishes, Danilo represents Westwing’s growing ambition to integrate sustainability into every stage of product development — from material sourcing to manufacturing. The line demonstrates how premium design can coexist with environmental responsibility, responding to the increasing consumer demand for sustainable choices in home and lifestyle products.
Westwing’s Sustainability Vision
As part of its broader sustainability strategy, Westwing has set ambitious material goals for its Collection by 2026, including:
- Over 90% responsibly sourced wood, cotton, and animal by-products
- Increased use of recycled plastics
- The elimination of hazardous substances and harmful chemicals in production
With the launch of Danilo, these commitments move from vision to reality. By fusing recycled materials, bio-based innovation, and refined craftsmanship, Westwing reinforces its role as a pioneer in conscious furniture design — creating products that are as responsible as they are remarkable.
