Uzbek Textile Delegation Meets VDMA Textile Machinery

On August 28, 2023, the German-Uzbek Textile Forum took place in Stuttgart in the House of History with the participation of more than 20 Uzbek textile companies. it was a great opportunity to find out about import and export with Uzbekistan.

In this program, the organizers introduce the newly established Sustainable Cotton Association in Germany. The association’s primary objective is to enhance relations between Uzbekistan and Germany within the textile industry. It will help the textile sector grow and strengthen relationships between German textile firms and the textile industry in Uzbekistan. It will also draw brands and retailers, find companies, and boost the export of Uzbek textile goods to markets in Europe and Germany.
Uzbekistan stands in a favorable position to increase textile exports to both Germany and other European Union nations.

In 2022, exports increased by more than 140% to €83 million, making Uzbekistan the 5th most important export country for Germany. Moreover, the export share of machinery for fabric production and finishing has increased from 13% to 35% in the last 5 years, “a clear sign for the investments in the downstream process steps such as knitting, weaving, dyeing, and finishing,” according to Janpeter Horn, Chairman of VDMA Textile Machinery.

Boris Abadjieff, VDMA Textile Machinery Association Business Delegation said: “On September 1st, VDMA Textile Machinery was pleased to welcome around 20 high-ranking delegates from the Uzbek textile industry as well as 25 VDMA members for a B2B networking event at the VDMA premises in Frankfurt. The textile industry in Uzbekistan has developed very positively, which is also reflected in the export figures of German textile machinery. “

Boris Abadjieff adds: “VDMA members will continue to provide technology solutions, constant market presence, excellent after-sales service, and training both in Uzbekistan and in Europe (e.g. at our members’ technical centers) to ensure even higher quality of finished textiles for Western markets.”

Olaf Schmidt, Vice President of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH said: “Messe Frankfurt has been pleased to welcome a delegation of representatives of the textile industry in Uzbekistan. It was my pleasure to host this event organized by the Confederation of the German Knitting Industry Gesamtmasche. We had a fruitful exchange on the textile industry in Uzbekistan, the opportunities to expand the activities to international markets, and how Messe Frankfurt can be one of the business partners. We are looking forward to further collaboration. Thank you for your interest in ‘Texpertise, the textile business network by Messe Frankfurt’ – organizing 50+ textile international trade fairs in 12 countries along the entire supply chain.”
